General Description:
This position will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day direct and indirect compliance function and its transformation to automation, partnering with IT, Finance and other business teams in the areas of LATAM taxes. It will work closely with the business, providing indirect tax compliance and setting the indirect tax strategy. It will report to the Global Tax Director, who is also based in Switzerland.
Essential Functions:
Compliance (60% of the time)Preparation and timely submission of VAT and intrastate returns of all European legal entities of the Group in the most efficient manner.Managing & co-ordinating VAT compliance with the Finance team- ensuring key VAT control framework / policies in place & driving escalation process when necessary. Projects (e.g. Support to Commercial launch, SAP set up…)Ensuring VAT efficiency of supply chain management further to the European commercial launch and working closely with operations & logistics teams.Maintain and provide tax codes to internal stakeholders to ensure proper settings in SAP including guidelines. Engaging with the heads of finance, sales, legal, US tax department, logistics, global & business process owners & IT, to help identify & mitigate potential indirect tax risk Tax planning and strategyDeveloping a coherent & proactive indirect tax strategy to effectively manage and identify VAT risks and ensure the business maintains up-to-date VAT expertise.In conjunction with the Global Tax Director, leading & providing strategic advice on indirect tax audits; developing, co-ordinating & executing indirect tax planning initiatives; and directing & managing external tax consultants.Acting as a “Center of Excellence” for indirect tax issues - finance teams will reach out to this person in case of complicated VAT / indirect tax matters / updating & educating finance teams on new & important developments in indirect tax.Leading indirect tax matters globally, acting as a strong business partner and advising on business activity for VAT & Customs matters (e.g. areas of supply chain, sales & business setup).Minimum Requirements – Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree. Accounting, law or tax degree preferred.7+ years’ Indirect tax compliance & advisory experience, gained either in-house or in big 4 firm. SAP Knowledge is required.Other Qualifications:
Experience working with European VAT reporting standards. Ideally working in a complex, international environment with cross border indirect tax exposure. Ideally exposure to customs issues or willingness to acquire customs knowledge.Experience dealing with operational aspects of transfer pricing.Focused, organized, results-oriented, decision maker & self-motivated individual.Languages: English required.
