Your Responsibilities

Support the execution and implementation of strategic initiatives, particularly those related to tax credits or incentivesEvaluate the impact of proposed legislation on the Company’s tax positionPerform calculations and create models to assess planning opportunitiesResearch and analyze complex tax questions, determine the appropriate tax treatment for nonroutine transactions, and craft memos to formally document findingsProvide support for reorganizations, restructurings, and other major projects; andAssist with the preparation of the Company’s quarterly and annual tax accounting and compliance obligations

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies   

Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent) requiredCPA and Master’s degree in Tax or JD/LLM strongly preferredAt least 5 years of experience with a major accounting firm or large multinational corporationExperience with both corporate and partnership taxation preferredSound understanding of ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes) for public companies and tax compliance reporting requirementsAttention to detail and the ability to multitask and prioritize, meet internal and external deadlines efficiently, and operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentProficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and WordProficient in writing technical memos and making presentations; andMust be able to uphold Choice’s Values & Performance Principles of accountability, collaboration, performance excellence, sense of urgency, innovation, inclusion and diversity, integrity and trust, customer focus, and respectDemonstrates key competencies to include:Managing ComplexityDriving ResultsEnsuring Accountability

Your Team   

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Senior Director, Tax Strategy & Analytics. You will have 1 peer teammate and will collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Senior Manager, Tax Operations, you will have the option of working remotely – OR - in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.

Right now, our associates in corporate headquarters are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtually from your home office the remaining days. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.

Remote-based associates, working from your home office will be required to connect virtually with Choice team members and leadership on video via Zoom, with possible periodic travel in-person to our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide offices in North Bethesda, MD, Scottsdale, AZ, or St. Louis Park, MN.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $121,393 - 163,881 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP)

The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
