**Purpose**
The Senior Manager of Treasury Operations will contribute to the profitability of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp (‘APUC’) by managing the operational requirements of the Treasury function, overseeing working capital management, and ensuring governance across the organization. The role requires collaboration with tax, accounting and legal and strong accounting knowledge and experience (CPA designation or CFA with at least five years of accounting experience is required).

**Accountabilities**
+ Assume the lead role for the month-end closing process and providing the cash journal entries to the accounting team
+ Oversee the booking of interest expense including the amortization of deferred financing costs, capitalization, etc. by collaboratively working with accounting team
+ Review the quarterly reporting including Financial Statements, Debt notes, Discount rates, cash interest paid, and other quarterly requirements, which are prepared by Treasury Analysts
+ Working collaboratively with various internal departments, including Shared Services to streamline various processes
+ Oversee the month-end closing process including interest and letter of credit accruals, bank service charges, etc..
+ Provide monthly variance analysis of interest expense, debt schedules, etc..
+ Review weekly dashboard updates on cash flow forecasting, compliance on the investment portfolio and debt related payments by managing and updating the treasury management system.
+ Overall responsibility for banking and cash management activities, including intercompany lending and capital flows across a complex international organization consisting of over 100 legal entities
+ Oversee the short-term forecasting (13-week cash flow) and provide variance analysis to all stakeholders
+ Continually monitor adherence to internal controls, company policies, procedures, SOX requirements and GAAP. Expedite remediation of any control deficiencies
+ Oversee and ensure that all contractually required payments are made on a timely basis in accordance with the underlying agreement (i.e.: Interest, Principal, Dividends, etc..)
+ Update and maintain the intercompany guidebook and oversee the quarterly settlement and documentation process
+ Oversee Know Your Customer (KYC) process for bank account opening
+ Support SAP and Kyriba enhancement projects, automation and integration including Streamlining the coding process (i.e. streamlining the posting the interest rate)
+ Assist in the improvement the working capital management
+ Evaluate new products and services available in the space as technology evolves/changes to satisfy the needs of the business units, including continuing the integration of all services, rationalization of bank accounts
+ Work with the Treasury team, the Finance leadership team and other stakeholders to identify and implement treasury-related process and reporting improvements
**Education and Experience**
+ University - Bachelor degree or equivalent along with a professional designation, including CFA or CPA
+ Exceptional leadership and people management skills to inspire and motivate a team, foster collaboration, and manage conflict.
+ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy
+ Experience implementing financial/KPI dashboards providing consolidated and portfolio-level Finance metrics, keeping end-users in mind
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), including advanced financial modeling skills
+ 10 + years of accounting experience (specifically cash accounting) and knowledge of US GAAP
+ Strong knowledge and understanding of business and financial concepts, processes and practices required for making sound decisions.
+ Excellent oral communication skills and ability to draft clear and concise written communication
+ Working experience understanding the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning and ability to apply organizational skill to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
+ Working experience in approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
