Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager of Trade Compliance oversees a team of trade compliance specialists within Technical Operations and is responsible for the oversight and management of trade-related activities and classification/clearance of goods, leading to United’s compliance with US and foreign laws and regulations. The Senior Manager of Trade Compliance has oversight of all activities relating to regulatory awareness, implementation of controls and monitoring, audit of regulatory systems and reporting, and oversight of training. This leader is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the team, setting goals, and working with team members to advance initiatives that improve trade compliance. The Senior Manager works with internal business partners and suppliers to provide operational guidance and ensure compliance with trade compliance systems.

Responsible for setting the strategic direction for the organization, building and implementing a vision and effectively communicating direction to team membersSet and measure goals and lead change management to achieve objectivesLead and guide a team of trade compliance specialists to ensure overall team cohesion and directionPartner with trade, logistics, legal business, site level and cross functional leadership teams and personnel to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations while meeting business objectivesManage trade-related activities leading to United’s ongoing compliance with U.S. and foreign laws and regulationsLead and direct the implementation of the trade compliance program across business units and suppliers to ensure compliance with import/export regulations, as well as handling and implementing continuous developments and enhancementsAssist with cross-functional projects related to trade compliance transactionsReview changes to US and foreign regulations to ensure that internal import compliance policies remain up to date and communicate any changes to relevant collaboratorsServe as the point of contact for governmental agencies on matters related to import/export compliance programsSupport the Director of Trade Compliance with any investigation into import/export or trade compliance issues, advise United’s senior officers and Legal Counsel, and assist with the preparation of voluntary self-disclosuresCoordinate and assist the internal audit of United’s import compliance policies and procedures to maintain compliance with the latest applicable laws and regulationsEvaluate the effectiveness of the import/export management and compliance program through periodic self-assessmentsIdentify gaps with import compliance manual, recommend and implement improvementsSupport the Jurisdiction/Classification of products under Schedule B/Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Denied Party ScreeningEvaluate, identify, justify, obtain, and manage a system of records contributing to United’s database managementOrganize, update, and provide trade compliance training and maintain training records regarding the samePrepare annual reports as required by the U.S. Government
