SENIOR MANAGER / ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, COST ACCOUNTANT

SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager/Assistant Director Cost Accountant role is responsible for cost accounting policies and procedures, maintaining and analyzing standard costs for all areas of the company, and supporting the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the SAP system. Works closely with manufacturing business partners and Accounting. This role will collaborate with accounting on balance sheet analysis (inventory), standard costing and complex special projects. The Sr. Manager/Assistant Director Cost Accountant will work under the supervision of the FP&A Development Chemistry and Manufacturing Lead to develop costing methodology and standard costs for manufactured products, both internal and external. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead annual standard costing exercise for commercial products in conjunction with FP&A counterparts, accounting, and manufacturing business partners. Develop & maintain costing, variance, and other accounting reports using SAP and related systems. Prepare and analyze cost allocations. Analyze variances in costs; Monitor and analyze labor costs and productivity, prepare monthly analysis of expense items to identify any trends or unusual fluctuations in results and investigate. Support accounting in performs balance sheet reconciliations for inventory/material monthly, check reasonableness and review/correct any discrepancies. Interface with manufacturing/material management departments regularly; provide summary of financial impact of operations activities on a monthly (or as needed) basis. Support finance leaders in developing the annual operating & capital expense budgets and forecasts. Work in tandem with accounting to conduct an analysis of inventory accounts (to include, but not limited to, inventory balances, inventory reserves, inventory turns, variance accounts etc.) and facilitates an inventory review process reporting to accounting on reserve recommendations. Collaborate with Global Trade Compliance to provide valuations of clinical and commercial shipments for imports/exports as required. Support accounting during external audits (interim reviews and year-end audits). Assists accounting in documenting policies, procedures, and controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Participate in special projects and assignments on an ad hoc basis.

REQUIREMENTS:

At least 3 years of manufacturing cost accounting is required. At least 5 years of cost accounting or finance experience required. Proficiency in Excel is required. SAP S/4HANA ERP system is a strong preference. ERP implementation experience is a plus. Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures to ensure operational departments understand and follow the policies and procedures set forth by accounting. Ability to thrive in a sophisticated, multi-level environment and work cross-functionally with individuals and teams. Self-motivated, independent asset in the organization who has enthusiasm and energy for the job. An eye toward continuous improvement with a successful track record of optimizing processes. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

The pay scale for this position is $70,892 to $128,688
