Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
General Motors is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager to lead the North American Automation Execution team as we launch our future vehicles.
This role will be instrumental in leading a large team in executing strategic initiatives that support our growth objectives and enhance our competitive advantage. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with a strong background in controls, robotics, vision, and plant floor systems that leverages engineering principles, is data-driven, and has excellent communication and collaboration skills.
What You'll Do
Lead and empower a large team of controls engineering experts to execute innovative solutions by providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
Execute scalable automation solutions to enable cost-effective manufacturing.
Execute, pilot or support GPS, Press, Body, Paint and GA execution and process development teams as they create new iterations of the Bill of Equipment for specific program/plant launches.
Ensure flawless execution of product programs and Non-Product Program projects, including willingness to work weekends, shutdowns, and holidays as needed.
Provide visionary leadership by helping develop and implementing a comprehensive digitization strategy for your team by leveraging advanced technologies such as AI, machine learning, and emulation to optimize processes/technologies across North America.
Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, measure success, and celebrate achievements.
Collaborate and influence with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, IT, finance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless implementation of program launches.
Develop and deliver presentations to senior leadership on project updates, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives.

Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
10+ years of progressive experience in controls engineering, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
10+ years of experience in a leadership role, effectively leading large teams to achieve operational goals and drive performance
Comprehensive understanding of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) and related manufacturing deliverables, ensuring alignment with global standards and practices
High level of technical aptitude and innovation mindset
Understanding of industry trends and core technologies involved in manufacturing systems and must be capable of making decisions and setting directions to enable successful launches
Strong fiscal mindset focused on company financial results

Knowledge of AI and machine learning applications in solving business problems
Detailed understanding of vision systems
Master’s degree in manufacturing, business, or engineering
