The Brake Product Engineering team at Wabtec Passenger Transit designs and develops components of the transit braking system including but not limited to: Disc, Calipers, Disc Brake Units, Tread Brake Units, Track Brakes, Air Generation and Treatment Units (Air Compressor, Motor, Air Dryer, Power and Control Boxes), Valves, Portions, Pneumatronic devices, Electronic devices and circuit cards, Firmware and Software according to internal and external customer specifications. **_Duties and Responsibilities:_** + Accountable for technical and managerial oversight of the Brake Product Engineering Teams which include Bogie Brake, Brake Control, Electronic/Software, and Air Generation and Treatment all residing in WPT. + Applies the understanding of the industry and how own area of responsibility contributes to the achievement of objectives. Puts customer needs as the centric point of decisions. Is savvy with finance models and how to optimize results. Develops business acumen inside teams. Keeps good relationships with customers (internal and external). Looks for customer's feedback and ideas for improvement + Develops business plans, including goals, resources, tools, and budgets to deliver them according to organizational objectives. Anticipates resource challenges and develops contingency plans. Adapts to changes and unforeseen topics to guarantee successful impact + Acts and supports multiple and diverse teams to reach excellence. Is able to propose breakthrough/innovative ideas which eventually create value for own organization + Has a broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts, theories, and principles of engineering and good knowledge of other disciplines. Where not available, defines standards and procedures for others to follow. Interfaces effectively internally and externally with technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Develops technical knowledge that serves the company strategy. + Encourages teams to change behaviors and processes when appropriate for the business. Openly speaks and coaches the team to embrace diversity and create an inclusive work environment. **_Minimum Qualifications:_** **_(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)_** + BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a university recognized by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, ABET. + Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, preferably in a manufacturing industry that involves machining and assembly. + Demonstrated success in managing technical teams **_Competencies,_** **󱄗󰢃** **_Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:_** + Sound knowledge and demonstration of engineering principles. + Critical thinking and problem-solving skills + Good written and verbal communication skills + Experience with 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting, preferably SolidWorks. Other applications could be Catia V5 or NX. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office products **_Authority:_** **_(Defined decision making level. The Plant General Manager and is the main authority at site level.
