Purpose
Leads the Merchant Acquiring product across Caribbean and Central America, ensuring business strategies, initiatives and business targets are achieved / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures, and ensuring that the defined CCA strategy is followed by all different business / operating areas on all geographies.


Accountabilities
• Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge;
• Key metrics for the role: coverage in number of merchants, sales volumes, Non-Interest Revenues, Internal Control evaluations and alliances in the markets to foster growth;
• Responsible for maintaining the product’s competitiveness, anticipating the competition to ensure sustainable growth, achieving fair market share and business line profit;
• Implement improvement initiatives based on performance data and industry best practices.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure the success of merchants lifecycle and product strategies.
• Oversees the merchant lifecycle end-to-end, from prospecting to recovery of relationships, ensuring a maximizing activity and value of merchants, developing and executing strategies to enhance the merchant's business operations.
• This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement lifecycle initiatives that align with organizational goals and merchant expectations, while also maintaining compliance with industry regulations and standards.
• Support the Director on the key strategic plays to build key capabilities, leveraging BNS market positioning, digital solutions and analytics through all geographies;
• Ensure a high level of collaborative communication among geographies, improving access to resources, skills and technologies across the region in order to fast-track strategic plays and change;
• Utilizes Power BI Services/Server and other sources to deliver timely analysis and interactive reporting to address specific inquiries.
• Builds effective relationships with relevant stakeholders and internal network of business partners to achieve quantifiable and measurable improvements

• Understanding the existing products/services/platforms and potential products/services/platforms using existing/new capabilities and working together with the sales team, as well as external and internal partners;
• Provide strategic and product support on implementing analytics tools for performance improvement, portfolio internal control activities, profit planning activities and other commercial efforts;
• Deliver synergies with other business lines and segments to provide enhanced functionality and differentiate Scotiabank products (e.g. Credit and Debit Cards, P2P Payments, E-commerce, B2B, added value services, etc...) as well as deliver to customers an enhanced payments experience;
• Provide support to extend existing merchant relationships for synergies with Card issuing or other business lines to foster growth and increase value added to our merchant customers and other products;
• Align with local needs and/or local proprietary functionality required by local switches, governments, regulators, etc.
• Assist in the development of business cases and supporting presentations for identified opportunities, that support the growth and maintenance of the business.
• Ensure the achievement of key financial, operational and internal control goals for all geographies.
• Supporting from a product management perspective the development and implementation of new products and policies from a data perspective, product enhancements and features through in-house developments of functionalities or alliances with third parties specialized vendors;
• Proactively identifying business growth opportunities through commercial initiatives, process enhancements, regional or country-wide alliances and other mechanisms;
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions;
• Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk;
• Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Skills
• University degree in engineering, economics, business or related fields
• 5+ years of practical experience in business intelligence and data analytics is required
• Strong understanding of Payments industry
• Specific bank and/or payment industry demonstrable experience
• Merchant acquiring experience is an asset
• Demonstrable experience in Product Management
• Good written & oral communication skills are required to deliver strong business focused plans, presentations, and the negotiation of deals
• Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team environment
• Results oriented and innovative in identifying and pursuing opportunities to leverage capabilities to increase revenues, decrease costs and mitigate risks
• Bilingual (English/Spanish; written and spoken)
