JOB TITLE: Senior Manager Climate Sustainability Pla n ning AGENCY: Construction & Development DEPT/DIV: Planning/Capital Strategy REPORTS TO: Director Climate Sustainability P lanning WORK LOCATION: 2 Broadway HOURS OF WORK: 8 : 3 0 AM to 5: 0 0 PM or as required (7.5HR/ DAY) HAY POINTS: 775 SALARY RANGE: $ 110,909 to $1 44,315 DEADLINE: Open Until Filled Summary The Senior Manager of C limate Sustainability Planning will substantially contribut e to the MTA ' s emissions reduction strategies. More specifically, this position will be responsible for integrat ing sustainability priorities into the multi-billion dollar 5-year MTA Capital Plan that underpins the continued mobility of the MTA region. This position is responsible for leading key initiatives , analyzing strategies and capital projects , developing asset investment strategies and planning tools, representing MTA policies to internal and external stakeholders , and implementing long - range sustainability strategies and issues. Responsibilities The Senior Manager of C limate Sustainability Planning will manage and advance MTA ' s emissions reduction strateg ies for fleets, which include initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from buses, trains, and service vehicles. Collabor a te in m anag ing the zero-emission bus fleet transition, including infrastructure planning , to advance MTA ' s goal to transition to a zero-emission bus fleet . Identify and implement strategies to achieve interim emission reductions by ev alua ting hybrid buses or renewable diesel . Coordinate with the Department of Buses to develop an optimized plan to charge battery electric buses . Align zero-emission infrastructure planning with depot state-of-good-repair needs and real estate needs . Identify emerging technolog ies that can aid fleet transition and work across the agency to implement appropriate pilots of new technologies and e valuat e tradeoffs between capital and operating costs and benefits. Lead the MTA-wide transition to a zero - emission non-revenue vehicle (NRV) fleet by supporting agencies on their respective fleet transitions . C oordinate with agency fleet managers to ensure MTA is on track with planned transition s . Oversee the planning, design, and deployment of electric vehicle charging infrastructure ; Advance d p rocurements for public charging access, electri c charging hardware and network service plans . Identify emerging technology that can expedite fleet transitions and design and pursue relevant pilots . Manage MTA ' s compliance obligations with respect to fleet requirements under State Executive Orders . Advance preliminary pathways toward long-term transition to low- and zero - emission locomotives . Track purchases and performance of revenue and non-revenue locomotives agency - wide, including new dual-mode and hybrid locomotives . Advance feasibility studies for zero-emission locomotive alternatives . Advance feasibility studies for charging to support hybrid work locomotives . Identify and pursue external funding to support bus, rail, and vehicle fleet transition initiatives . Prepare competitive grant applications and support other MTA departments on relevant grant applications . Pursue Federal rebates through IRA-enabled direct-pay tax incentives and Identify and pursue external funding to support technology pilots and demonstrations . Additional responsibilities include: Build close working relationships and collaborat ion across C&D and the MTA family ; Develop and present planning information, processes, and results to stakeholders. Creat e new and meaningful means for public communication of MTA ' s capital plan s and sustainability goals . Manag e in-house production of deliverables and limited consultant engagements; Selecting, developing, and managing direct and indirect reports, including pro f essional coaching and counseling. Education and Experience Bachelor's or Masters degree in Transportation, Urban Planning, Business, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field. Must have a minimum of eight ( 8 ) years of experience in Transportation Planning, Infrastructure, Finance, Planning, or a related field . Must have a minimum of four ( 4 ) years of managerial experience. A Master's degree is preferred. Competencies: Excellent organizational, written, oral and presentation skills.
