What is the opportunity?
This is a key risk measurement and analytics role with responsibilities for managing credit risk strategies and IFRS9 loan loss provisioning for Caribbean Banking. The position assists senior management in understanding changes in impaired loans, provisioning, and the underlying risk in the credit portfolios. The position also develops and manages credit strategies that support the Caribbean business targets for balance growth, new account acquisition, profitability and retention while ensuring appropriate risk mitigation is in place to maintain overall portfolio quality.
What will you do?
Supports the end-to-end production of the quarterly IFRS9 allowance for impaired and performing loans.Prepares materials for the Allowance Committee deck and related financial reporting. Includes sharing context, insights on the portfolio, and working with the Chair of the Allowance Committee in presenting the materials to committee members.Prepares the annual Loan Loss Plan and periodic forecasts.Supports the annual audit of the IFRS9 loan loss allowance and provision for credit losses, including the related financial statement note disclosures for the various legal entities.Uses predictive modelling and data mining tools to design, test, implement and manage credit risk strategies for new originations (EG: score cut-offs, line assignment, preapproval campaigns) and account management (EG: collections, credit line management, release of unverified funds).Perform portfolio and strategy analysis using advanced methods and tools to gain insights, identify opportunities, understand trends, and determine strategy effectiveness.Codes new or modified credit card strategies into TRIAD adaptive control software and coordinates the testing and implementation.Works collaboratively with the Supplier Manager to manage the relationships with the various credit bureaus across the Caribbean. Designs and Implements controls around IFRS9 measurement activities.Work collaboratively with the broader Risk Measurement team in the development of models, overlays, analytical capabilities, data systems, and performs a wide range of other activities to support Special Loans, Finance, and the larger GRM team.What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
Ability to manage complex and challenge processes. The position manages the estimation of expected credit losses across the Caribbean, which includes multiple countries, currencies, legal entities, and regulators. University degree in a quantitative field of study (e.g. Economics, Statistics, Business) demonstrating abilities for critical thinking, problem solving and numerical analysis.5+ years of relevant credit risk management experience and expert knowledge of credit principles and risk management techniques including credit scoring for acquisition and account management.Highly proficient with SAS and SQL.Extensive experience designing strategies for adaptive control software (e.g. TRIAD).Proficient with data mining, analytical tools, and decision tree software (e.g. Knowledge Studio or Enterprise Miner).Strong written and oral communication skillsNice to Have
Experience with PythonExperience with accounting and/or financial reporting.Knowledge in the areas of predictive models, macroeconomics, stress testing, and ICAAP.Familiarity with RBC’s existing data and infrastructure.What’s in it for you?
