Position Title: Senior Manager - DevOps Engineering

Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally, works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision-making process.

The Global Technology (GT) team at Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) is on a multi-year journey to modernize technical and digital products and platforms across all business lines. This role demands a visionary leader with a technical understanding of the range of resort operations technical products in solving complex business challenges. Proven success as a leader in recruiting, developing, and retaining technical talent on high performing teams is required. Specific Job Summary

The Senior Manager of DevOps Engineering will work closely with the MVW DevOps L1 and L2 support team, focusing on enhancing DevOps processes and technologies. This role is crucial for ensuring the swift resolution of pipeline related issues to minimize disruptions in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The individual will collaborate with a team of DevOps support engineers and work closely with various stakeholders to deliver proactive support, ensuring seamless business continuity.

Specific Expected Contributions

Automates repetitive tasks, such as code integration, testing, and deployment, which accelerates the software delivery process.Designs and manages Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure that code changes are automatically built, tested and deployed, reducing manual errors and speeding up releases.Facilitates collaboration between development, operations, and other teams, breaking down silos to enhance communication and shared goals.Promotes a culture of collaboration, helping to resolve conflicts and ensure that all teams are aligned on project objectives.Analyzes deployment logs and metrics to identify and troubleshoot issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.Integrates security measures throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring that security is a priority from the start (shift-left) rather than an afterthought.Integrates IaC tools into the CI/CD pipelines to provision and manage infrastructure, ensuring consistency and scalability in deployment environments.Implements modern cloud deployment models to manage cloud resources effectively, reducing costs and improving resource utilization.Establishes feedback mechanisms to gather insights from deployments and user experiences, driving continuous improvement in processes and products.Mentors team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance overall team capabilities.Performs other duties as appropriate.

Generally, a professional position with specific knowledge in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Resources). College degree and/or relevant experience typically required.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.

Certifications Preferred

AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – ProfessionalCertified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

Experience

7-9 years of experience in DevOps support and activities.Experience in troubleshooting and resolving issues in production environments is vital for maintaining uptime and performance.Proficiency with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment tools (e.g., Jenkins, Tekton, Azure DevOps, GitHub) is important for automating the software delivery process.Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is required for managing containerized applications and orchestrating deployments.Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure is required.Experience with tools like Terraform or Ansible for automating infrastructure provisioning and management is required.Prior experience in software development or engineering is highly valued. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Nodejs, Java, or JavaScript is desirable.Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on delivering high-quality support services.
