The Collins Aerospace Business & Regional Avionics and Heads-Up Guidance Systems Department is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join our leadership team. We are looking for a motivated individual with proven experience in leading civil-certified avionics Software and System development teams.
The candidate we are seeking is a strong, passionate leader with an action-oriented, collaborative mindset, who operates with a vision, delivers benefits to meet/exceed expectations, builds and enhances her/his teammates, evaluates and takes action on the performance of self and others, proactively plans for teammates’ and customers’ needs, all while operating with full integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with minimum 16 years of experience or Master’s degree with minimum 14 years of experience in the aerospace sector.Leadership experience in avionics Software & System development & certification (civil certified projects under ARP475A and DO-178B/C)Proven track record of successful project execution leadership, while meeting cost, schedule, scope, and quality commitmentsPossess a collaborative way of working, particularly in a global environmentDemonstrated success in balancing business needs across multiple projects by working with multiple engineering teamsExperience leading teams with the Agile methodologyStrong written & oral communicator and change agent; able to interface with the spectrum of individual contributors to executive leadershipJob responsibilities
A leader of leader who manages a large team of both experienced professionals and team leaders in Software Engineering.Lead the department in ensuring all development projects meet the needs of applicable avionics certification and process requirementsEstablishes procedures for addressing problems and makes recommendations to management to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of software engineering activities.Lead change initiatives: identify and implement creative, compliant ways to balance the cost of change with engineering valueWork collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to understand program needs & challenges; lead the team to generate and execute plans which deploy appropriate solutionsOwns the development and execution of long-term strategy (3-5 years).Focuses on plans with short-to medium-term focus (1-2 years).Drive building of robust competencies around the functional areas in the departmentDesigning and implementing systems, policies and procedures to facilitate continuous process improvements to ensure we implement best practices across the organization.Work in a dynamic environment, where juggling current commitments and generating innovative plans for the future are the normIdentify, recruit, retain, and develop engineering talent across the spectrum of entry-level to very experienced system engineersBuild and leverage networks within the department, within Collins AerospaceCommunicate well with a wide variety of individuals including Engineering, Program Management, internal leadership, and customers.Build a strong leadership pipelineExplore and enable new opportunities for capability growthDrive Continuous Improvement and Innovation culture across teamsInfluences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and proceduresRaytheon Technologies is An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
