Senior Manager - Environmental Risk Management
Reporting to the VP, Environmental Risk Management, the Senior Manager, Environmental Risk Management will assess pre-acquisition environmental risk exposures, support and track post-acquisition environmental risk management and manage some aspects of identifying, developing and enhancing policies and standards to identify, protect against and mitigate environmental risk.



 

Job Duties:

Provide technical expertise in the evaluation, quantification and communication of environmental risk and mitigation and prevention strategiesLead pre-acquisition environmental due diligence projects including engaging and managing internal subject matter experts and external consultants to perform environmental due diligence and engineering assessmentsServe as primary contact for post-acquisition integration relating to environmental matters including transition of environmental data, permit/approvals and financial assurances, and development and implementation of risk management strategies for identified risksDevelop, communicate, and assist in post-acquisition environmental risk management strategiesSupport disclosures and communication of risk and risk mitigation strategies relating to acquisitions to internal stakeholdersAssess regulatory and policy changes in Canada and the US that will affect the environmental risk of target acquisition facilities and operations

Requirements:

Critical thinking skills– making sense of data, able to translate and interpret environmental and engineering data information with a high level of attention to detail, to support decision makingExcellent communication skills – verbal and written skills to be able to communicate concepts that involve analysis, interpretation and assessment to people of differing disciplinary backgrounds (finance, legal, operations) in an impactful wayStrong influencing skills in eliciting cooperation and consensus from others in the implementation of a risk management programPost-Secondary education in environmental sciences, engineering or a related field10+ years of related experience working in environmental services or similar large complex multiple stakeholder environmentsKnowledge and experience of industry-wide environmental policies, practices, regulatory framework
