Summary of Position (Job Purpose) - Major purpose and functions of the position.
The Senior Manager, Financial Reporting will work with various leaders within the organization to support the Company’s financial reporting and corporate accounting functions. This role will assist in preparation of internal and external financial reports, perform research of technical accounting topics, prepare benchmarking analysis of required disclosures, and support the implementation of new financial systems and processes. The Senior Manager will also prepare journal entries and account reconciliations monthly for key accounting processes, such as stock compensation, bonus accruals, and revenue accounting. The Senior Manager will further coordinate with internal and external auditors to provide complete and accurate supporting schedules and workpapers, as well as provide analysis of financial statement variances for financial leadership. This role will further manage the preparation of quarterly presentations to management and the board of directors.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of importanceManage the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages provided to financial leadership using various schedules and reports prepared by FP&A and Accounting. Be the go-to for all technical research on various accounting issues, including accounting guidance related to leases, goodwill and intangibles, impairment, various corporate transactions, debt, fair value assessments, stock compensation, and more. Lead the adoption of new accounting standards and develop reporting requirements.Draft accounting positions and accounting policies consistent with our peer group, including benchmarking.Research, interpret, and apply complex accounting principles to address unique business transactions and emerging accounting issues. Research and analyze emerging accounting issues from the SEC, FASB and other regulatory bodies.Maintain relationships with business partners to ensure early identification of transactions that could have a potential accounting/reporting impact including maintaining close relationships with the tax department and business unit teams, thereby driving compliance and accuracy in our accounting and reporting of complex transactions.Partner with IT team and drive internal financial systems process improvements and automation.Continually evaluate and optimize month-end close processes, striving to deliver process automation, improved accuracy, and higher customer service.Develop, implement, monitor, and improve the Controllership function’s key performance indicators (KPI’s) related to financial systems, processes, structures, and outcomes.Demonstrate a proven track record of excellent project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage work in a dynamic complex environment. Leverage problem solving and influencing skills to ensure the accounting outcome delivers on intent. Analyze financial statement variances on a monthly and quarterly basis and provides narrative explanations to management and third-party auditors. Review and / or prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in support of the month end close process.Minimum Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required.Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting7-10 years of public accounting experience, Big 4 preferredCPA requiredFamiliar with FASB, SEC and other related financial reporting frameworksExperience in performing accounting research and preparing technical memorandums.Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and PowerpointAttention to details, including regular follow-up on action itemsStrong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to work in fast-paced team environment, handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlinesExcellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomesExperience with Blackline, IBM Planning Analytics or a similar financial reporting software is a plus
