Senior Manager Indirect Procurement

Our Culture + CAP employees make a meaningful difference by partnering with colleagues customers and members on challenging and rewarding work + CAP provides its employees with an energetic and collaborative work environment and encourage opportunities to further develop their skills—offering reimbursement for educational programs and participation in events that enhance your skills + We offer a generous compensation and benefits package, 401K, and more -- visit Careers at the CAP (https://www.cap.org/careers-at-the-cap) for more details Brief Description The Indirect Procurement Senior Manager is responsible for: • Manage and oversee indirect spend categories such as information services, travel and meetings and facilities, and supporting a broad base of business partners through relationship management and identifying strategic business opportunities. • Manage procurement operations team, including issuing and approving of purchase orders and the selection and operation of eSourcing tools (e.g. contract management system, spend analytics, eSourcing, etc.) • Develop and implement procurement processes and strategies to ensure that procurement operations run effectively, achieve organizational goals/performance KPI’s, and ensure quality programs/services to our members and customers. • Support ongoing supplier management efforts • Coordinate with suppliers and internal resources to drive continuous improvement • Model key behavioral and performance attributes that guide CAP employees including the Leadership Values of Partnership, Respect, Accountability, Communication and Excellence. • Embrace, encourage, and model inclusive leadership with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in all hiring and staff decisions. Specific Duties Duties and responsibilities: • Develop and implement category management strategies across all Indirect Procurement spend • Develop, implement, and drive strategic sourcing strategic sourcing initiatives to support the category management process • Create and execute Procurement Maturity roadmap • Select, implement and manage strategic sourcing tools according to the maturity roadmap • Develop and implement Strategic Sourcing and Category Management training for the entire Procurement department • Support the selection and management of external consultants to support the Procurement Department initiatives • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in procurement • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in Procurement • Maintain optimal pricing and services through review of competitive landscape, industry norms, and negotiation of contract terms • Assist contract managers and procurement business partners to ensure contract processes meet business needs through quality assessments, process audits and stakeholder feedback. • Seek new opportunities and analyze risk for effective procurement and expense reductions. This may include reducing the cost of goods and services, incorporating new technology or improvement/efficiencies in supply base • Negotiate with suppliers and resolve issues • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of the annual department budget • Work cross functionally with business partners across the organization to elevate the member/customer experience • Direct and coach a team of Procurement staff to best meet the procurement and sourcing needs the organization • Promote a team approach and a critical thinking environment to facilitate problem solving, empower staff, and inspire trust. Knowledge/Skills Required/Preferred Personal: • Superior knowledge of Strategic Sourcing process • Superior Knowledge of Category Management strategies • Superior knowledge of eSourcing tools, market offerings, top vendors capabilities, and industry trends • Excellent communication skills, ability to partner effectively and efficiently across the organization • Strong organizational and leadership skills • Ability to identify, navigate, and influence organizational direction • Strategic and robust leader, analytical/critical thinker, and problem solver • Excellent internal and external negotiation skills • Strong business acumen with ability to explain procurement results and variations to non-procurement audiences Professional: • 10 years professional of combined experience in procurement, category management, and strategic sourcing preferable of indirect goods and services • Ability to recognize and handle confidential information • Resource allocation and project management • Business acumen in judgment and decision making • Strong customer service orientation including issue resolution and supplier relationship management skills Technical • PC based software applications, including ERP systems • In-depth knowledge of eSourcing tools capabilities and daily operations Education/Experience • Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Business, Purchasing or Operations related field • MBA Preferred • People management/supervisory experience (Strategic Procurement/Supply Chain preferred) Additional Criteria + 10-20% travel required including, but not limited to supplier audits and tradeshows + This position is based out of the Northfield, IL office.
