What Will You Be Doing?

The Senior Manager, Software Development manages the success of the software development life cycle as it relates to resource management, software development process management, and project and quality management.  This individual provides technical leadership and direction and influences the overall success of varied cross-functional teams.  This individual is also a hands-on contributor to the development and operational activities of the software engineering team. The Senior Manager of software Development is responsible for managing relationships with his/her IT peers and business stakeholders, including those in Infrastructure, Data/BI, Cybersecurity, and Commercial.  The role is responsible for collaborating with the Solution Architect to establish Frontier’s commercial application architecture vision.  Further, as leader of the Software Development team, these individual mentors and grows staff and continuously improves software engineering processes.

Essential Functions

Manage software development operations, including release strategy, project planning, development, deployment, and maintenance Lead the execution of multiple concurrent software development projects Partner with the Project Management Office, Software Quality Assurance, Infrastructure, Data/BI, Cybersecurity, and business leaders to meet strategic and tactical objectives Ensure that development teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively Maintain awareness of technology standards, best practices and trends, and make recommendations around new implementations Collaborate with Solution Architect to set architecture vision for Commercial Technology Solutions; partner with architects on other Technology teams to ensure adherence to best practices and Frontier standards Evaluate current and future leveragability of new functionality in anticipation of changing/evolving business needs and direction Partner with Quality Assurance Manager to establish and maintain DevOps pipeline and Agile/Scrum ways of working Work in a mixed mode of team staffing, including FTEs, staff augmentation, managed services, and/or global delivery Recruit, select, and onboard Development team resources, targeting individuals with technical proficiency and a drive to succeed Monitor individual employees’ performance and ensure that management expectations are established and met Perform goal setting, management of vacation/sick time, schedule coordination, mentoring and related manager HR functions for employee resources Support team culture via team-building activities and training for developers Manage and participate in the support of on-call activities for the Software Development team

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 8+ years of API   development experience with expertise in Micro Services based Architecture. 8+ years of application development experience in some or all of the following languages and technologies:  C#, NET, MVC, HTML, SQL, CSS, JavaScript, Azure 5+ years of experience in a people leadership role Proven track record of successfully leading software development teams Experience in recruiting and hiring technical resources Should have a complete understanding of OAS, API Security, Resilience, and Scalability API patterns. Understanding and knowledge of Navitaire Digital API is a strong plus but not a must-have Should be hands-on in the above Technologies and Azure Platform and be able to guide, mentor, and lead the API Middleware Team Should be able to write code, review code, create and participate in Solution Design and Architecture and Debug / Troubleshoot Software Issues Strong understanding of Observability Patterns for APIs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Extensive knowledge of .NET web framework utilizing C# with a good knowledge of Microsoft-based API development Strong understanding of object-oriented programming Familiarity with various design and architectural patterns Experience developing cloud-native applications Prior work on Microservices products Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies Must have exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills Ability to coach the team to reach their highest potential Self-starter with high energy to meet the needs of a demanding business and IT environment
