Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) business unit is looking for Senior Manager – Data Technology with strong expertise managing execution of large data program out of India. The role is high touch position with a notable amount of collaboration across teams in building business solutions. It is expected that this individual has considerable experience and strong technical background to gain the respect of senior software development staff. 

This individual is a multi-tasker at heart, with strong communication skills and a problem-solving mindset that thrives in a fast-paced organization. The ideal candidate would engage NTAM business leaders, understanding business needs, lead solution designing, execute solution build and business enablement.

Technologist with Data Product mindset eager to extend strategic data platform build.Evangelize data strategy among stakeholders such as business users and various teams through design, documentation, review and cross team negotiations to support strategic business goalsLead technology teams across multiple projects in the development of central data solutions such as Operational Data Store, Data Hubs, Data Marts, and Analytics  to meet business needs.Expertise in designing data solution on Snowflake cloud data warehouse and Azure Databricks.Provide oversight and management of multiple applications development efforts simultaneously across a multiple stakeholders and product owners.Liaison with several Chicago-based teams on projects,  strategic data architecture goals, data requirements, and troubleshootingDevelops periodic goals, organizes the work, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities, and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work by employees and contractors.Work with management on setting strategic priorities and direction for the India teams. Think outside the box capabilities.  Responsible for maximising the effectiveness by building strong team/technical competencies.Help develop and mentor high performing and diverse teams across various workgroups.  Promote teamwork in problem resolution. Foster an environment of open discussion.Leading teams through influence to help build their knowledge on end to end solution considerations using domain driven design and other modern engineering practices.Ensures adherence to organizational policies, guidelines and processes

Skills/ Experience

Demonstrated leadership and cross functional collaboration experienceExcellent communication skillsStrong organizational and facilitation skillsAbility to work under pressure and to prioritise tasksAbility to attract and retain top talent Requires an extensive knowledge of application development, usually having experience with multiple system technologies.Investment management, Wealth Management or Asset Management experience recommended.Knowledge of applying agile methodologies (Kanban, Iterative Waterfall, hybrid-Agile) and experience handling teams with different maturity of agile practices.Excellent consultative and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with client, partner, and IT management and staff.Thoroughly understands decision process issues of technology choice, such as capacities, response time, data interfacing, client server communication, industry standard technologies and new industry trends, etc.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent.Minimum 15 years of overall experience, with at least 7 years in supervising/managing mid-size teams.Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and data architecture.Experience with Azure cloud services to provide technology solution to business problems.Past data analytics (AI/ML/GenAI) experience a big plus.

Recommended Skills

Technical experience with various Data Management development tools, utilities, and frameworks such as IBM DataStage, Informatica, Oracle PL/SQL, and Master Data concepts.   Additional application development utilizes Java Spring Frameworks,  server-side JavaScript, and NoSQL data utilitiesInterpret business requirement and functional requirements to assist developers and/or testers in their job dutiesAbility to guide and direct resources performing complex data analysis across two or more separate databases.  Provide guidance on giving presentation of summary of analysis.Project effort planning and resource levelling to guide best allocation of team technical skills across multiple projectsFamiliarity with emerging trends in technology such as Public/Private Cloud Technologies as it relates to Data Management, PII management, Financial Services Regulations.Ability to read data models and explain data Entity-Relationships to ETL developers and java developers.
