The design assurance team supports Zebra’s promise of quality to our customers and is responsible for ensuring products meet specifications throughout program phases from components to final product.
Responsibilities:
Directs and oversees the work of a team of design assurance engineers and techniciansTakes strategic direction and translates it into tactical projects and assignments designed
to execute the visionPerforms departmental business activities such as annual performance reviews of
subordinate staff and assuring conformance to company policiesAssigns work, coaches, develops and drives accountability for results with subordinate staffCommunicates proactively with the project team and other stakeholders about progress against reliability analysis and results. Uses experience and knowledge to proactively identify risks to the project. Contributes to overall project leadership. Regularly presents outcomes and risk analyses the project team, representing the DAE function, which typically include Senior level audience membersLeads innovation efforts for the team by facilitating brainstorming activities and actively
benchmarking externally with other organizations on best practices in design assurance. Exposes the team to novel approaches. Demonstrates openness / receptiveness to new ways of workingDetermines some special project, policy development and provides process input to improve initiatives for the function, assigns resources and oversees deliverables against objectives. Acts as a design assurance engineer on complex programs, as workload dictates - working as part of a design team, provides all design assurance deliverables required in the development process at each phase, including:
Evaluation of SW tools and techniques, materials, and properties used in deployment or managed services of Zebra’s products or SW solutions. Advising design engineering on the selection, reliability of SW solution systems. Recommending design, test methods and statistical process control procedures or service monitoring techniques for achieving required levels of product reliability, MTBF, uptime Service Level Objectives, Embedded or cloud-based SW solutionsDetermining reliability requirements of components or SW systems to achieve company, customer and any governmental agency reliability objectivesUsing statistical methods or Service Level Indicators to design reliability objectives.Participate in creation and analysis of quality standards.Creating and analyzing designed experiments to determine main effects of high complexity or novel device sub-systems or SW Solutions to improve designs. 7Using hypothesis testing and other statistical methods to assess the significance of test results or data algorithms to monitor real time reliability. Actively reviewing and understand market requirements to quantify metrics and operational thresholds or reviewing customer use cases and services satisfaction indicators to steer ongoing CI/CD releases. Assuring projects and solutions, quality protocols are adhered to
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related discipline) with 12+ years’ experience in Design Assurance Engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within an Embedded Systems environment. Proven track record of successfully managing high growth of Embedded Systems (such as mobile computer, wearables, tablets, IoT devices etc.), Software Solutions, machine vision, Advance Data Capture business.Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive experience in leading QA for large-scale Embedded Systems Products including Enterprise Mobile Computers, Machine vision, SaaS platforms with high performance requirements.Experience implementing governance frameworks for release management, quality assurance metrics, milestones & ensuring compliance with enterprise standards.Proven expertise in managing, strategic quality assurance plan, modern QA practices, including test automation, performance testing, continuous improvement, and testing strategies.Experience with AI-driven Operational excellence frameworks, predictive analytics, and advanced performance monitoring tools is a plus. Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and their integration with QA processesExperience with highly Agile development teams and large-scale system implementationReal-world experience in Embedded & cloud native design assurance, including implementing Quality assessment framework for a software solution through to production.Experience on development and implementation of Release criteria/solutions to improve processes, reduce costs, and cycle time, and improve customer success.Proven problem solver and impediment remover, identifies issues, finds solution to blockers, and helps resolve technical issues quickly to achieve goals.Experience in evaluating the pros and cons of customer issues, providing technical solutions and determine how best to apply lessons learned for future development.Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working with engineering, product management, and operations teams.Excellent communication skills and the ability to distill complex technical subjects to present updates to stakeholders and executive leaders.Proven experience establishing operational excellence framework and fostering global knowledge sharing and innovation.Explores and understands the competitive landscape in both product and business terms.Coach or act as escalation point for Multiple business unit’s customer escalations & issuesZebra is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer committed to a diverse and inclusive work environment. Salary: USD 153900.00 - USD 230900.00 Yearly
Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
