The primary responsibility of the Senior Managing Counsel II, Litigation will be oversight of complex litigation and pre-litigation advice with respect to complex matters with focus on litigation disputes. Influences global business decisions made by leadership, owning and developing long-term tactical and operational plans and goals.

Roles & Responsibilities Oversee complex litigation matters by providing recommendations to the business and managing required tasks, outside counsel, and spend Oversee the work of others on selected litigation matters including reviewing and approving legal documentation prepared by outside counsel and/or team members Lead the process of identifying and presenting legal options and recommendations; best course of action to the business to achieve their objectives Actively contribute to the selection of outside counsel and/or team members Provide input into selection of outside counsel; establish case specific budgets for outside counsel and monitors costs Oversee and review work completed by outside counsel and less experienced team members to ensure it meets Corning standards and reflects Corning interests May lead projects in close collaboration with relevant Law department personnel to understand and implement legal programs that drive standardization across regions and divisions while ensuring local business needs are met May act as a subject matter expert for the Law Department in defined area Provide litigation updates for quarterly litigation/threatened litigation reports for corporate filings and/or disclosures Manage, coach, mentor, and train team members Experiences/Education - Required JD from an accredited law school Member in good standing of at least one State Bar Required 12+ years of experience in litigation with considerable senior level litigation support Extensive experience determining legal strategies and selecting appropriate legal options for the Litigation team to simultaneously manage and resolve critical and/or high-risk litigation matters Successful track record leading and championing internal processes, best practices, and guidelines that maximize Litigation team performance Extensive experience building and fostering relationships within the local legal community and engaging with lawmakers to protect policy interests on litigation-related issues Travel: Some travel is required (domestic & international), and the amount may vary month-to-month but is unlikely to exceed 20% on an annual basis Experiences/Education - Desired Experience leading large-scale, complex projects including planning and resource allocation across multiple divisions, geographies, and/or departments Demonstrated ability to act as the highest authority on complex business decisions within own division, geography, and/or department Demonstrates success engaging with senior leadership, influencing business decisions, and delivering thoughtful and persuasive communications Experience motivating and building collaborative working relationships with stakeholders at the global, regional, or local level Extensive experience growing and motivating a team; coaches members through career milestones/progression and identifies successors Experience in complex disputes, including patent litigation

The range for this position is $227,914.00 - $313,382.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
