Position Overview:

Sustain and improve existing aluminum fabrication processes for the Harris pontoon boat chassis area. Support new product introductions and influence designs to improve manufacturability.

Essential Functions:

Provide production support to the manufacturing team. Assist with evaluating and resolving safety, quality, delivery, and productivity issuesProvide technical support for fabrication equipment such as sheet rollers, brake presses, saws and other custom equipment used to fabricate aluminum pontoon boat chassisImprove process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standardLead continuous improvement initiativesDevelop innovative solutions to manufacturing issuesIdentify, design and implement new fixtures and tools to improve quality, reduce scrap, and improve throughputAnalyze throughput of production lines and implement improvements using time studies, line balancing, and other lean manufacturing methodsCreate and maintain process documentation including work instructions and labor standardsParticipate in the new product development (NPD) process to ensure the product design incorporates design for manufacturability (DFM)Lead manufacturing readiness activities in preparation for new product introduction (NPI)Participate in capital projects from cost justification through implementationAct as a liaison between production team, design team, and other departmentsCommunicate effectively to management, peers, operators, and conduct training as neededEnsure projects are completed on time

Required Qualifications:

7 years’ engineering experience in a metal fabrication or mechanical industryBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Manufacturing Engineering requiredProgramming experience with fabrication and automation equipmentStrong computer skills including MS-Office (specifically strong Excel skills)3D CAD experience. SolidWorks preferred. Will use 3D models to program equipmentExcellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated problem solving, innovation, team participation, and self-motivation

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing or supervising technicians or willingness to do soDemonstrated use of PFMEA to be proactive in improving manufacturing processesCertified Six Sigma Green BeltExperience with lean six sigma and root cause determination tools such as DMAIC, 5-Why, 8-D, and 5SExperience leading Kaizen events
