Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer - 2nd or 3rd Shift

We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer in our Philadelphia facilty where we develop, produce and process specialized coatings and materials, primarily for the defense market. This role is responsible for technical support, process development, and process improvement as well as manufacturing support which includes troubleshooting process and equipment issues, failure analysis and corrective action, yield enhancements, and cost improvements. This position will also provide leadership to a small off-shift crew.  Either shift is current an option with 2nd shift running 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm and 3rd shift running 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Provide leadership and guidance for skeleton crew on the off-shift  Supports development and implementation of new manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment.  Develop manufacturing processes that are robust against product specifications and support quoted cost Collaborates with R&D and manufacturing teams to innovate process and product improvements.  Develop and implement continuous improvement projects Perform data analysis on product performance and manufacturing processes.  Ensures key process variables are identified, characterized, and controlled to consistently result in acceptable quality and cycle times Troubleshooting of process/equipment related issues in timely manner working with manufacturing technicians and engineers to resolve the issues Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective action plans to resolve manufacturing issues ensuring high quality products with stable and reliable processes Responsible for maintaining manufacturing process documentation including standard operating procedures, routers, and Bills of Materials May conduct training of manufacturing technicians on the processes and provide support for cross training activities

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferably in industrial, mechanical, or materials engineering A minimum of 5 years of related experience; or 3 years and a Master's degree Ceramic coating technologies, ceramics, materials & process engineering experience is desired

Skills & Other Requirements

Ability to work under general supervision and to manage multiple assigned tasks and projects effectively Must be capable of reading blueprints Strong verbal and written technical communication skills Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Access, and MRP systems.  CAD software knowledge a plus (SolidWorks preferred). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong organization skills and high attention to details required Experience in ceramic coating technologies and high temperature equipment (kilns, furnaces) is desired Experience in process design, development, and project planning is desired Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is desired

Physical Requirements

Ability to occasionally lift/push/pull up to 20 lbs. Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility Walk of uneven and slippery surfaces Ability to reach around various production equipment to troubleshoot issues, perform calibration, and maintenance
