Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Consultant to provide expert support for suppliers in the industrial manufacturing sector. This role focuses on evaluating and improving production readiness, delivery quality, and manufacturing processes, with an emphasis on foundry castings. Extensive travel is required to directly engage with suppliers across the United States, assessing operations and implementing solutions to ensure high standards of production and quality.
Job Duties:
* Conduct on-site evaluations of supplier production readiness, focusing on casting and related manufacturing processes.
* Troubleshoot and resolve quality, production, and supply chain issues, providing actionable roadmaps for improvement.
* Assess tooling, gating, and foundry processes, identifying deficiencies and implementing corrective measures.
* Perform detailed analyses such as Value Stream Mapping, Lean initiatives, and cycle-time studies to enhance efficiency.
* Collaborate with supplier teams to develop and refine processes, procedures, and documentation for operational improvement.
* Utilize advanced quality tools such as PFMEA, RFT analysis, and MSAs to identify risks and address production failures.
* Provide guidance on work instructions and process development for new and existing production workflows.
* Act as a consultant and mentor to suppliers, ensuring they meet production and quality expectations.
Required Qualifications:
* Experience: 15+ years in manufacturing engineering with expertise in casting and foundry processes.
* Skills: Deep knowledge of foundry operations, including tooling, gating, and metallurgical processes.
* Proven ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing and quality issues in industrial settings.
* Experience deploying Lean methodologies, KPI management, and shop floor collaboration.
* Proficiency in ERP systems for production and material planning.
* Certification: Lean Six Sigma or equivalent process improvement credentials.
* Flexibility to travel extensively across the U.S. and provide on-site supplier support.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Degree in Engineering.
* Knowledge of cost reduction methods, including Should Cost or VAVE methodologies.
* Familiarity with aerospace or maritime manufacturing standards and practices.
* Strong skills in supplier quality management and supplier relationship management.
