The Role
The Senior Manufacturing Technician will perform advanced-level tasks in the production and handling of chemicals.
External USRESPONSIBILITIES
Chemical Processing: Operate and monitor equipment used for chemical production, such as reactors, distillation columns, mix tanks, agitators, and drum/tote fill equipment. Ensure proper control of temperature, pressure, and other process parameters.Safety and Compliance: Adhere to and enforce safety protocols and environmental regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), handling hazardous chemicals, and maintaining clean workspaces.Quality Control: Perform routine inspections and quality checks on chemical products. Troubleshoot equipment issues and conduct tests to ensure products meet specifications.Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of chemical batches, process parameters, and any deviations from standard procedures. Prepare reports on production metrics, yields, and equipment performance.Supervision and Training: Lead and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance on best practices and safety protocols. Assist in training new employees.Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the routine maintenance of production equipment, and work with the maintenance team to schedule repairs and upgrades.Process Optimization: Collaborate with engineers and production managers to identify process improvements, optimize production efficiency, and reduce costs.Inventory Management: Manage chemical inventories, ensure adequate supplies of raw materials, and coordinate with procurement and logistics teams for reordering.Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with equipment or processes, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent production flow.Regulatory Compliance: Follow procedures to ensure that all processes comply with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations, including proper waste disposal methods
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED required. 2-year college degree or certification equivalent preferred. 10+ years manufacturing experience in related industry required. 5+ years in chemical manufacturing industry preferred.Expert level knowledge of chemical handling, safety procedures, and hazardous materials.Proficiency in operating complex chemical equipment.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong Communication skills. Preferred ERT (Emergency Response Team) experience. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude a plus. Good computer skills to include MS Office- Excel and Word. SAP experience a plus. Ability to be fitted for and wear a respirator. Experience in operating a forklift and other auxiliary manufacturing tools. Ability to lift at 60 lbs. Ability to push and pull up to 50 lbs. Ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization. Ability to work varied shifts to include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, including weekends. Must have a valid Arizona drivers’ license and clean driving record. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires candidates to successfully pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment. One of the essential job functions is the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
