Senior Manufacturing Unit Leader
**Job Description Summary** The Manufacturing Unit Leader will have overall ownership of production, processes, and people included in the respective Manufacturing Unit and will be fully responsible to deliver upon SQDC targets, to eliminate losses in the area through BD Excellence and to grow the capability of the team. This role has responsibility for the designated product line including setting goals, making decisions, and driving accountability toward department objectives in the designated Manufacturing Unit. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. This role is responsible for the designated product line, which includes setting goals, making decisions, and driving accountability toward department objectives in the designated Manufacturing Unit. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, standard methodologies, and all local and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is a crucial job function. Willing and able to uphold BD Values. **Main responsibilities will include:** + Developing and mentoring the manufacturing unit to achieve results by focusing on production, associate capability development and ownership. + Coordinates and drives all activities within the manufacturing unit and sets priorities. + Responsible for developing and leading the manufacturing unit’s budget and headcount levels aligned to demand requirements. + Coordinates the establishment and communication of challenging SQDC goals. Translates manufacturing unit targets into lines/areas/workplaces and ensures that each associate understands what is expected from them with documented individual, specific and measurable targets. + Takes the initiative to ensure that short and long-term SQDC goals for the lines/areas under responsibility are met. + Resolves issues in the line and for the manufacturing unit promptly while displaying servant leadership. Leads the team in line with BD values. + Engaging closely with the safety leadership on site to ensure a strong safety culture exists within the operations team. + Lead all personnel activities for the operations group, including hiring, mentoring, coaching, training compliance, performance reviews, and handling performance issues efficiently and effectively. + Does yearly performance reviews of the team and ensures every individual has an active development plan in place and does regular 1:1s with each team member to review performance and help them to grow. + Identify critical roles in the department and engage with the learning and development coordinator on site to ensure that skills gap analysis needs are completed and plans are in place for skills gap closure for critical roles and their successors identified within the department. + Facilitates BD Excellence implementation within the manufacturing unit. + Collaborate with planning leadership to establish process to ensure production schedules performance meets customer demand. + Spends more than 50% of the time on the production floor overseeing activities within the manufacturing unit. **About you** + 5 years of manufacturing experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is required. + 3 Years of people leading experience required. + BA/BS Degree – Required – Science, Industrial management, Business, Engineering or a related field. **Click on apply if this sounds like you!** Becton, Dickinson and Company is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
