Senior Marine HVAC and Refrigeration Engineer

Leidos Gibbs & Cox, currently has an opening for a Senior-Level Marine HVAC and Refrigeration Engineer to support the USCG Surface Force Logistics Center (SFLC). The mission of SFLC is to provide complete lifecycle management of USCG floating assets from concept design through disposal. This position provides you the opportunity to contribute to the design and support of new and existing USCG acquisitions, including small boats, cutters, and icebreakers, directly alongside Coast Guard personnel. This position focuses on the development and review of HVAC and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) system designs for USCG assets.

This position is a hybrid position with 3 days per week of onsite support at SFLC in Glen Burnie, MD.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide marine engineering support for shipboard HVAC&R systems including heating and cooling load calculations, duct sizing, chilled water piping calculations, and equipment selection.

Evaluate new or modified subsystems as it pertains to overall system performance.

Provide engineering and technical support for review of shipyard engineering documentation packages.

Perform trade-off and engineering analyses to support equipment modernizations, mid-life retrofits, repairs, and other sustainment tasks.

Perform calculations applying mechanical engineering design principles, techniques, procedures and criteria.

Interface directly with USCG and shipyard personnel.

Basic Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship and must have an active secret clearance or be eligible to be granted one.

BS or MS in Technical, Engineering, or Marine degree from ABET-accredited institution, related to field of work.

Minimum of 5 years’ documented experience relating to the design of HVAC&R systems or marine systems with an emphasis on marine HVAC&R systems.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Active Secret Security clearance.

Familiarity with USCG, ABS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations relating to shipboard HVAC&R systems.

Documented focused experience with marine HVAC&R systems.

Proficiency in AutoCAD or other CAD type software.

Pay Range:Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
