Senior Maritime Engineer
**Description** Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks an experienced Senior Maritime Engineer to guide research and development (R&D) on a variety of maritime systems and industrial equipment. This Senior Maritime Engineer performs a variety of tasks, will provide consultation and direction on complex projects and will be a top-level contributor/specialist. Candidates should have experience with Shipyard and Port systems, logistical systems, PLC’s or other relevant background. Some travel to customer facilities is required. Applicants should have extensive experience in the areas of Systems or Electrical Engineering support and best practices, paired with application in the design, implementation, and integration of disparate systems. Experience with industrial systems is preferred. You will investigate and analyze unique or highly technical manufacturing systems and provides technical assistance in establishing procedures and methods to integrate support. You will evaluate complex programs and measures to assess the efficacy of integrations. **Senior Maritime Engineer Security Clearance Requirements:** + **Must be US Citizen** + **Clearance: Must have an active Secret security clearance and be able to obtain and maintain a TS-SCI clearance** + NOTE – this position highly desires residence within two-hour distance of one of these locations: San Antonio, TX; Virginia Beach/Norfolk, VA; Houston/Galveston, TX; Baltimore, MD / National Capitol Region (District of Columbia); or Pinehurst, North Carolina; (residence near other Ports Considered) **Senior Maritime Engineer Primary Duties and Responsibilities:** + Serve as Senior Maritime Engineer to manage development projects of assigned R&D technology + Drive engineering project execution, develop and recommend technical guidance, track and report on status, and resolve blocking issues + Provide subject matter expertise with system analysis, design, delivery, verification, and troubleshooting of designated systems + Generate technical documents, such as test plans and procedures + Coordinate cross-team efforts spanning internal customers and external partners + Interface with external agencies supporting systems engineering, architecture, and/or design + Manage Change Control across several systems + Scope the Industrial Control System Hardware and Software Requirements for a given industrial process + Write specifications manufacturers will use to prepare labor and material cost estimates **Senior Maritime Engineer Required Education and Experience:** + Bachelor’s Degree in Systems or Electrical Engineering is preferred. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering will be considered + 8 years experience is required (Maritime Preferred) + Must be familiar with Industrial motors, electric generators, and electrical systems + Experience with Shipyard and Port systems, logistical systems, PLC’s or etc + Must have ability to read and understand engineering drawings and electrical schematics **Senior Maritime Engineer Preferred Experience:** + Experience with marine/ship systems design and engineering + Experience with various vehicles/boats / Loading and Unloading procedures/processes + Experience with FAT testing marine electrical and automation systems + Experience with hydraulic schematics and shop spaces + 2+ years experience as an engineering leader, project/program manager + Demonstrated understanding of fundamental engineering concepts/principles/theories and standard engineering methodologies + Ability to clearly articulate, verbally and in writing, new concepts and capabilities to the team and customers **Who is ARA?** Do you want to work for a purpose?
