**Job Description**
Located in a U.S. Navy mega-port and principal commercial area, Norfolk Ship Repair's (NSR s) primary customer is the U.S. Navy. The NSR shipyard is perfectly positioned to serve the requirements and needs of the Navy. The NSR team strives for superior customer satisfaction and on-time delivery of a quality product. NSR team also maintains extensive safety awareness programs, environmental protection best practices, and a clean, orderly facility. Currently we are looking for someone to fill a position for a Senior Material Planner position.
As a Senior Material Planner you will;
+ Perform review and analysis of work specifications, drawings, and technical manuals to develop material estimates for new and growth work for repairs on US Navy and Commercial Ships.
+ Solicit suppliers for price and availability information for materials.
+ Be cognizant of materials that are Long Lead Time Material (LLTM) and identify as such as needed.
+ Generate Pre-Proposal Inquiry (PPI), Request for Clarification (RFC), and Inspection/Deficiency Report (IDR), as required with regard to government furnished information, customer furnished information, and material problems and issues.
+ Review and take appropriate action on all answered correspondence.
+ Interface with trades as necessary to assure material estimates and requisitions contain the proper size, type, and quantity of material needed to support their particular production effort. Trade interface also required to field questions, identify issues and prevent/resolve problems to ensure a quality product.
+ Review and ensure that all estimates are complete, accurate and submitted on schedule.
+ Be cognizant of all schedules in order to ensure required need dates are promulgated to vendors.
+ Interface with the Purchasing Department regarding cost and supplier information.
+ Provide Request for Quote (RFQ) information to the buyers.
+ Communicate with the Labor Estimators, Buyers, Ship Superintendents, Craft Supervisors, and Craft Personnel.
+ Frequent contact with outside material suppliers.
+ Perform similar, incidental, and other duties as assigned.
+ Able to work independently with minimal immediate supervision.
Open to Hybrid schedule, 1-2 days a week from home.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in a skill trade environment OR equivalent education/work experience
+ Proficient utilizing MS Office Suite with emphasis on MS Excel.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience using an MRP system (Oracle, Costpoint, Deltek)
+ Experience with Bill of Material
+ Experience with RFQ's
+ Ability to read part numbers.
+ Knowledge of vendors
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Ship repair or Ship Construction experience
**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $73778 - $125422
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
