Do you like solving problems, no matter how large or how complex?  Our Avionics and Systems Engineering group is offering challenging work to support our customers across multiple military aircraft. The Senior Materials Engineer will play a key role in driving the adoption of AM tools, materials, and technologies by the F-16 System Program Office (SPO). As an AM subject matter expert, you will collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to develop and implement a robust framework that enables the seamless incorporation and certification of AM technologies for aircraft components.

Role and Responsibilities:
As part of a team, you will:

Develop and implement a comprehensive framework for integrating additive manufacturing into existing processesCollaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams to understand project requirements and constraintsConduct thorough evaluations of AM materials and components, ensuring compliance with airworthiness standards and specificationsProvide expertise in selecting, testing, and validating materials suitable for additive manufacturing applicationsCollaborate with stakeholders to establish protocols for assessing the performance, reliability, and durability of AM componentsStay informed of industry advancements in additive manufacturing and materials engineering to continuously advance KBR’s and customer knowledgeLead training programs to educate Air Force stakeholders on the evaluation and integration of AM parts

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fieldMinimum of 10 years related experience, with average experience of 15+ years.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environmentExcellent communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse stakeholdersProven track record of successfully implementing additive manufacturing processesAbility to obtain a Secret clearance. US citizenship is required

Desired Experience:

Active DoD Secret Clearance Masters in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fieldExperience with metal additive manufacturingExperience with metallographic specimen preparation techniques and materials characterization techniques, including polishing/etching, optical microscopy, mechanical testing (i.e. hardness, tensile testing, creep, etc.), SEM/EBSD, XRD, machine shop technologyDeep understanding of HIP/Heat Treatment of Additive Manufactured metalsExperience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) softwareExpertise in evaluating materials for airworthiness and regulatory complianceExperience with Additive hardware qualification and acceptanceExperience in hardware manufacturing environmentFamiliarity with relevant industry standards and regulations
