Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Role description:

This role will form an integral part of our Global Excellence Centre (GEC) – Arcadis’ centralized and fully integrated project delivery group. Our GEC is made up of more than 3,000 talented individuals working in offices across Romania, India and Philippines, providing Capability, Capacity and a Competitive Advantage across a wide array of unique projects and services, in collaboration with our global businesses.

The MEPF Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) in the GECs is comprised of cross-functional teams, that contribute to the development of innovative MEPF solutions that optimize energy efficiency, sustainability, and occupant comfort. Our ability to effectively manage projects, assess client needs, and provide technical guidance is crucial in delivering successful outcomes, using the most innovative way of doing computational design.

Role accountabilities:

Your role will include, but is not limited to:

Do MEPF engineering design for process equipment, water distribution (cold, hot, industrial, etc), wastewater distribution and rainwater distribution under the supervision of an experienced engineer and has good knowledge about equipment and systems to be used (grease separators, tanks, pumps, etc.), with minimum guidance provided by an experienced engineer. Use 2D and 3D drafting/modelling software tools to create layouts, schematics and details of pneumatic, hydraulic and process utilities connections to process equipment. Do engineering design of ventilation, heating and colling installations under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Do engineering design of general lighting, emergency lighting, power distribution (up to 1kV), fire signaling systems, burglary and CCTV systems, with minimum guidance provided by an experienced engineer. Designs, calculates, sketches, 3D modeling, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings. Build proficiency in REVIT and other software used in the design process. Perform the tasks within the agreed-upon budget and schedule. Prepare reports and presentations as directed by senior engineers. Follow company standards and procedures including design and checking. Create comprehensive engineering documents, including equipment specifications, reports, presentation (reports, 2D plans, schematics, equipment sections and elevations, connection details, schedules etc.). If required, atend relevant design and client meetings to gain a better understanding of the project and design work required, asking questions of the internal team as necessary. Ensure that MEPF designs meet safety and environmental regulations, sustanaibility and energy efficiencies regulations following industry standards and guidelines. Able to understand the scope of the project, implement national/international standards in MEPF design as well as client demands and project specific requirements. Assisting in doing task-based estimation for MEPF engineering and modeling. Attend relevant design and client meetings to gain a better understanding of the project and design work required, asking questions of the internal team as necessary. Follow company standards and procedures including design and checking. Ensure that designs meet safety and environmental regulations, sustanaibility and energy efficiencies regulations following industry standards and guidelines. Implement national/international standards in MEPF design as well as client demands and project specific requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

Mandatory:

Bachelor's degree in Building services engineering. Medium knowledge of design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, others) and calculation software (Design Builder, Microsoft Office - Excel, dedicated ones). Medium English language skills. Eager to learn new capabilities and skills. Medium knowledge of ASME, ASHRAE or localstandards. Minimum 7 years of experience in MEPF design for process equipment, semicunductors, industrial, and other areas. Experience in buildings (HVAC, public health, fire suppression, electrical low voltage), system integrators and manufacturing may also be considered. Candidate to have problem solving skills, creativity, to show proactivity and analytical skills. Good planning, organizational, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position. Nice to have:

Master's degree in in Building services engineering. Knowledge of MEPF specialized software (Revit, Design Builder, Smart Plant, Plant 3D etc.). Experience in creating process and instrumentation diagrams. Candidate to show out-of-the box thinking in order to identify any opportunities for automation or innovation.
