**Job Description**
Danfoss is seeking an experienced **Senior Mechanical Design Engineer** who will join the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Controls Engineering organization with a strong focus on cost reduction to lead and drive cost optimization initiatives across Commercial and Industrial Valves for refrigeration and air conditioning systems. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities while maintaining product quality, performance, and reliability. You will play a key role in collaborating with cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers, and influencing design strategies to enhance manufacturability and reduce overall production costs.
**Job Responsibilities**
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
• Lead cost-reduction initiatives by analyzing existing designs and identifying optimization opportunities.
• Drive value engineering, design-to-cost, and design for manufacturability (DFM) strategies.
• Work closely with procurement, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to identify alternative materials and processes that reduce costs without compromising performance.
• Provide technical leadership in mechanical design modifications to achieve cost efficiencies.
• Optimize CAD models and technical drawings for improved production and assembly processes.
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses and assess the impact of design changes on product lifecycle costs.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers in cost-reduction methodologies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across R&D, operations, and supply chain to implement cost-down strategies effectively.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging materials, and innovative manufacturing techniques to drive continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• English – strong communication skills
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on cost reduction and optimization.
• Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor, Teamcenter).
• Experience in the SAP system is welcome.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and cost analysis techniques.
• Experience working with suppliers and procurement teams to drive cost efficiencies.
• Proven track record of implementing successful cost-down initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Leadership and mentoring experience.
• Experience with DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly), VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) is a plus.
