Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Platform Engineering, North Reading, MA, to inspire a variety of platform product development initiatives for our next generation Semiconductor Testers. In the Platform Engineering Group we focus on developing state of the art Semiconductor Equipment. This position will create innovative, but also sound technical solutions to complex engineering problems. They will also identify essential requirements and key technical risks. They will work closely with Product Marketing and Systems Engineering to understand customer needs, and with product development teams to implement design solutions for New Product Introduction and High Volume Manufacturing.

Candidates filling this position are expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge and concepts in the field of mechanical engineering, while contributing to the development of new concepts, as required.  The candidate will be expected to work on complex problems and provide solutions which are innovative, under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals.  Successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge to pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results, utilizing consultation and reviews with peers and management staff as additional support to achieve the organization’s objectives and / or technical challenges. Some filling this role can act as organization spokesperson on specialized projects or programs, or act as an advisor to management and customers, partners, suppliers on advanced technical issues and applications.

 
Experience using the following tools: 

SOLIDWORKS for CAD (computer aided design) , FEA, and PDM (product data management) In depth knowledge of GD&T standards and applied experienced. Effective written and verbal communication skills including presentations, (Customer, internal and management). Writes and communicates critical reports.  Microsoft Office Suite. Manage complex design reviews, internally and customer.  Expert technical writing skills (procedures, reports, etc.) Competent complex problem solving/troubleshooting skills for both components and subsystems.  Promotes a cross-functional project team environment, communicates with customer facing teams and leads small teams. May participate in setting technical direction/product strategies, working with the Systems Engineering team. Provides technical problems-solving guidance to others. Working knowledge of SEMI standards and the ability to apply complex groupings of standards into designs. Preferred experience with PCB design for RF instrumentation – clear understanding of shielding techniques Preferred experience working with signal delivery cable assemblies of high-speed RF spectrum signals Preferred experience in RF connector interconnect designs (Mating alignment, compliance) Nice to have experience with waveguide design
