Senior Mechanical Engineer
Department: **Engineering** Reports To: **Engineering Manager** Job Title: **Mechanical Engineer, Principal** The Principal Mechanical Engineer is a key member of the engineering design team responsible for multiple aspects of mechanical design to include electronics packaging, systems engineering, and environmental testing. Requires demonstrated knowledge and technical ability in developing complex electronic packaging to meet commercial and military avionics design standards. Responsible for design of new products from concept through manufacturing release as well as improving product yield and ease of manufacturing for existing designs. **Key Responsibilities:** In this role the responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: 1. Conceptual and detailed mechanical packaging design to include thermal/shock/vibration analyses for new product developments 2. Support failure analyses and recommend/implement product improvements for existing designs 3. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the mechanical engineering team 4. Provide mechanical engineering content in support of new business proposals (renderings, simulation models, work estimates) 5. Contribute to new and refine existing engineering processes and procedures 6. Collaborate with multiple engineering design disciplines to satisfy overall system objectives 7. Ability to lead development projects of various sizes is preferred **Requirements:** The successful candidate will have a background which includes the following demonstrable experience, skills and education: 1. B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required; M.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred 2. A minimum of 10 years of design experience in electro-mechanical packaging 3. Electronics packaging design & analysis experience in SolidWorks 3D CAD & PDM environment or equivalent 4. Experience with printed circuit board/circuit card assemblies 5. Experience designing for defense/aerospace industry standards DO-160/MIL-STD-810/MIL-STD461/MIL-STD-704 6. Experience successfully transitioning product designs to manufacturing with strong collaboration throughout the development process 7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills 8. Available to travel to customer sites in support of design review meetings (up to 10%) **Authorities:** Ensure compliance with applicable processes and procedures during the course of daily job function **Physical Demands:** While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, reach with arms and hands, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. **Work Environment:** While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office.
