Since 2011, Raytheon Australia have been contracted to deliver facilities services in support of the Harold E. Holt (HEH) Defence Precinct in Exmouth, Western Australia. Home to the Space Surveillance Telescope (SST), the C-Band Radar and Very Low Frequency (VLF) radio transmission capability, together these systems add a critical contribution to Australia's space domain awareness and battlespace awareness missions. Right now, we are experiencing rapid growth and are seeking a bright and energised **Senior Mechanical Engineer** to join our inspired team on a 12-month contract. This opportunity is welcomed in Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane. **Key Responsibilities:** + Perform comprehensive evaluations of mechanical systems to formulate innovative design solutions which focus on practicality, cost effectiveness and compliance with safety and quality standards. + Focus on providing technical solutions that not only address immediate needs but also consider long-term sustainability and support future system upgrades and adaptability. + Perform necessary calculations and simulations to validate the feasibility and performance of proposed technical solutions. + Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., electrical, logistics, systems) to ensure proposed solutions are holistic and integrated within the broader system context. + Create comprehensive documents detailing the scope, technical solutions, design rationales, and any assumptions made. + Identify the tools, materials, and labour resources required to implement the defined tasks and proposed solutions. + Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders outlining the proposed solutions, scope details, and anticipated impacts on the system. + Liaise with Raytheon management on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development and execute according to company and program procedures. **Skills, Experience and Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree with structural and/or mechanical systems industry experience. + Minimum of eight years’ experience in operational and/or in-service support phases of major programs, preferably in Defence technology and/or construction related industries. + Willingness to become and maintain a chartered professional engineering status via Engineers Australia. + Experience making improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance. + Understanding of systems engineering, engineering support, maintenance support, and technical documentation disciplines. + Knowledge of product life cycle and experience with system performance metrics. + Solid skills in relevant business and engineering applications. + Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance as needed.
