Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate engineer to join our Powertrain team in San Carlos, CA to support development of the environmental control system for the Joby S4. This individual would be responsible for designing ductwork, electronic housings and cooling components, and testing equipment. This role will involve design work starting at the conceptual level through full modeling and continue into manufacturing and testing. This position requires a relentless drive for engineering excellence and the ability to find balance between complex competing objectives and priorities.

Responsibilities Design of complex components and packagingInitial layout and sizingDetailed design and fabrication specificationsPreparing production drawings, with appropriate GD & TDirect communication with vendors and technicians in manufacturing Required B.S in mechanical engineering5+ years of demonstrated engineering experience, preferably “full-stack” with exposure to test design, equipment/component selection, hands-on builds, bring-up and troubleshootingProficiency with professional 3D modeling software, preferably in Catia 3D Experience EnvironmentProficiency in mechanical design, materials selection, kinematics, troubleshooting, and analysisExcellent problem solving and communication skillsStrong analytical background Desired M.S. in mechanical engineering8+ years of Aviation or Automotive industry experienceStrong fundamentals in fluid flowExperience with instrumentation selection/procurement and data acquisitionElectrical enclosure design experience

 

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $123,400 - $164,600/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
