Our client, a premier construction and engineering contractor, is known for delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical projects committed to innovation, excellence, and client satisfaction, ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects across various sectors. Due to rapid expansion the company is now looking to hire an experienced Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor for a Data Centre project. As a Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor, you will be managing all costs relating to mechanical engineering projects, from initial estimates to final accounts, ensuring that project costs are controlled, and value is maximised while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
Carry out a detailed mechanical cost analysis, identifying project scope, specifications, and contractual requirements and develop comprehensive project budget.
Manage cost planning and management for projects, including estimating, budgeting, and cost control measures.
Prepare accurate and informed reporting on the project's cost performance.
Oversee the preparation and evaluation of subcontract packages, contributing to interim and final valuations.
Analyse and verify contracts with Project Manager/Director and identify key terms, conditions and obligations related to mechanical cost management.
Prepare and evaluate tender documents, including contract conditions, bills of quantities, and subcontractor packages.
Prepare regular cost reports, providing project managers and stakeholders with insights into cost performance.
Implement effective cost control measures to monitor project expenditures and identify potential risk/issues and present reliable solutions making sure senior management is notified.
Manage and review commercial aspects of the project to ensure accurate reporting.
Participate in project meetings, providing expertise and insights on cost management issues and strategies.
Lead and mentor the QS and Trainee QS, fostering collaborative and supportive team environment.
Degree/qualifications in Quantity Surveying.
5+ years’ experience as Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor within construction.
Data centre, MEP packages, and main contractor experience are beneficial.
Proficiency in Quantity Surveying software and tools.
Effective negotiation, problem solving, and communication skills.
