Senior Medical Affairs Leader, Haematology (Europe & Canada)

AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior EUCAN Medical Affairs Leader with oncology and medical affairs expertise to join our EUCAN Medical Affairs team. This role reports directly to the EUCAN Head of Medical Affairs. 

 

The Senior EUCAN Medical Affairs Leader is a vital strategic and synergistic link between countries and the Regional strategy teams, whom ensures timely, high-quality input into global and regional medical, cross functional and lifecycle plans. This role develops and executes EUCAN regional strategy and tactical plans, as well as supports the EUCAN country strategy and implementation.  An important element of the role is to develop strategic and long-term partnerships with relevant external stakeholders and decision makers through the development of AZ’s scientific leadership with advocacy, scientific organizations, thought leaders and HTA/payers organisations. Together, the EUCAN medical leadership team plays a critical role to develop best in class medical affairs capabilities aligned with the medical needs of our rapidly expanding portfolio – together we are shaping the future of medical affairs within the pharmaceutical industry! 

 

This role will require broad internal cross-functional collaboration and matrix leadership, with multiple medical, development, commercial and access teams; as well as core Oncology Business Unit EUCAN country teams, and broadly across EU 27. 

 

This role will be responsible for activities such as insights generation and advisory boards; alignment of the publication plans and medical evidence generation plans to overall tumour level strategy; developing synergistic strategy to global, regional and local externally sponsored research and collaborations; enhancing educational and patient related initiatives and other medical affairs activities in collaboration with country and cross functional EUCAN teams. This role will contribute to the broader AstraZeneca portfolio strategy, and shape our value delivery to benefit healthcare professionals, healthcare systems, and patients. 

 

Essential Requirements: 

Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) 

Significant Medical Affairs experience with at least 10+ years total of pharmaceutical or relevant medical/clinical experience 

Demonstrated leadership skills in a cross-functional team environment 

Proven understanding of the lifecycle of haematology compounds, competition, haematology disease areas; such as CLL, MCL, ALL, DLBCL plus development platform modalities including bispecifics, and CAR-T is highly desirable. 

Understanding of drug development and commercialization processes including understanding of outcomes research /payer access gateways 

Proven ability to generate, analyze and interpret clinical trial and published data 

Track record of successfully developing and executing Medical Plans both in terms of evidence generation, scientific communications and external expert engagements 

Ability to manage multiple projects and products simultaneously to ensure timely, on-target and within budget accomplishment of tasks 

The candidate is expected to have ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including development, marketing, health outcomes and access team 

Good communication and presentation skills in English
