**Overview**
The Senior Medical Copywriter I is a trusted figure in the copywriting team. You craft compelling stories. You’re responsible for translating scientific language into persuasive, emotive copy for a range of medical audiences. You have deep scientific knowledge, a love of writing, and a passion for healthcare. You inform creative teams to help them develop relevant work, and easily adapt your style to creative themes. You consistently produce work of a very high standard and you enjoy communicating with clients, medics, and colleagues alike.
In this mid-to-senior-level role you will further develop your skills by taking a leading role on a number of projects and contribute to the ongoing development of more junior writers by reviewing their work and providing guidance and mentorship. You will act as an anchor for the importance of science in the agency, and contribute to maintaining and evolving the department’s capabilities.
**Responsibilities**
+ Demonstrates best practice in the medical copywriting team
+ Comfortably writes persuasive copy for multiple formats and channels
+ Produces channel- and tone-appropriate copy for all audiences and media types
+ Translates scientific product data into compelling promotional stories; finds stories in data and tells them in concise, natural language
+ Easily and effectively writes to creative themes and relevant tones of voice
+ Crafts effective story flows with skill
+ Takes responsibility for medical accuracy and quality of written communications for assigned accounts
+ Maintains excellent quality control levels
+ Creates reference packs for materials and helps manage Veeva Vault PromoMats or ZincMaps approval processes
+ Checks the work of less experienced members of the medical copywriting team; provides feedback and support to peer group
+ Works alongside copywriters, art directors and designers to inform development of relevant creative themes and accurate, engaging creative work; ensures medical and creative alignment; upholds creative standards
+ Plans tactical proposals to create user journeys and experiences through promotional content
+ Confidently presents to clients and colleagues, with support from senior peers where needed; leads medical-related discussions with clients on assigned projects; takes ownership of complex narratives and messaging development with only minor reliance on more senior team members
+ Comfortably presents opinions on key project workstreams
+ Juggles multiple projects/tasks without losing control, keeping senior team members, resource planning and client partnership teams informed of any impact to deliverables or timelines
**Qualifications**
You have a solid scientific background, excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and significant proven experience in a medical copywriting role.
Healthcare advertising experience is essential, along with a thorough understanding of the ABPI code of practice. Interest in mentoring juniors is desirable.

**Experience**
+ Proven experience in a medical copywriting role, demonstrating responsibility for maintaining high scientific and copywriting standards across multiple accounts
+ A solid scientific background (you should hold at least a bachelor’s degree in the life sciences [2:1 or above])
+ Expertise in healthcare advertising, with a thorough understanding of industry regulations
