We are looking for a Medical Grants Funding Lead to join us in our External Funding team, based in our any of our Brussels or Braine (Belgium) or Slough (UK) offices.
About the role
The global role of the Medical Grants Funding Lead is a subject matter expert that leads the review and approval of grant funding requests.
This role will manage the strategic review and approval processes relevant to the grant categorization and works externally with the requestors, and internally with varied stakeholders during the review process.
This role will be required to utilize deep knowledge of regulations, codes of practice, regulatory requirements and other expertise to ensure grant funding(s) are aligned to UCB strategic priorities, to ensure scientific / medical merit and patient wellbeing and safety.
Who you’ll work with
This role includes working closely with Medical and Leadership teams to understand the relevant medical strategies and goals to lead the assessment of grant submissions (globally) for potential funding by UCB.
What you’ll do
Design and manage the external grant funding requests globally, including leading the review and approval process ensuring alignment to annual grant plans and UCB strategic priorities, and inclusion of relevant reviewers based upon grant categorization and needsAct as the UCB subject matter expert on the funding processes and global categorizations (grants, sponsorships and donations) to guide internal and external stakeholder questions and ensuring appropriate categorization in accordance UCB and regulatory requirements (including for escalations, audits or inspections)Identify and drive process and system related improvements leading to efficiencies and process excellenceConduct reviews and assessments to ensure all funding requests align to ethical and compliant requirementsConducts relevant review committee meetings as necessary ensuring review is based upon scientific / medical merit and safeguarding patient’s welfare, maintains meeting minutes and engagement with internal and external stakeholdersCoach and mentor funding specialists on best practices, key grant fundamentals and proactively identify areas for process (SOP) and system improvements, manages assigned projects and drives change management to reduce complexity, support digital innovation and identify efficiencies

Several years of in pharmaceutical grant funding with experience working in a highly matrixed global environmentIn-depth knowledge industry codes (PhRMA, OIG, EFPIA, etc.)Strong communication and collaboration skillsetsStrong project management skillsetsProactive in identifying opportunities for change that lead to process efficiencies, remove complexity and are aligned to best practicesExperienced in assessing grant opportunities based upon scientific merit and alignment to company strategiesAre you ready to ‘go beyond’ to create value and make your mark for patients?
