Senior Medical Science Liaison

Job Description

The MSL position is a field-based customer facing role, activities should be customer key medical experts (KME) focused with the intent to maximise medical interactions with healthcare professionals (HCPs) which can include face to face, virtual, telephone or email based on the needs of the customer and medical team.

Execute a high standard and blended approach to all customer engagements using a multi-channel approach, balancing both face to face and/or digital/virtual interactionsIdentify KMEs in specified therapeutic area and work in collaboration with cross-functional counterparts in engaging KMEs from a medical perspectiveDevelop, maintain and implement KME engagement plans to build and maintain strong scientific relationships such that Biogen is recognised as an industry partner of choicePlan KME visits and utilise the CRM database to record HCP interactionsProvide current, accurate and balanced scientific education to HCPs and facilitate data discussions in relevant therapeutic areasSource and brief international and local speakers for national and state meetings according to internal processReactively explore & facilitate clinician driven ideas for company sponsored trials, investigator initiated research and other sponsored research agreements.Ensure Strategic Account Management (SMA) by working with relevant cross-functional counterparts to address specific regional needs from a medical perspective in alignment with both medical and commercial brand plansParticipate in respective integrated brand team meetings to provide in-field medical updates, trends, insights and competitor intelligenceContribute to in-field medical training of commercial team and be available as a medical resource for the sales teamSupport Medical management in the coordination of advisory board meetings/steering committees, including speaker briefingsCollaborate with relevant medical and commercial team/s as well as Global Clinical Operations and Medical managementKeep up to date with the relevant medical literatureDiscuss, analyse and educate on appropriate medical and scientific publications and clinical study findings in collaboration with Medical managementAs requested, attend national and international conferences and provide a medical summary of these conferences to internal stakeholdersProvide scientific presentations to individual physicians or groups of physicians, for example scientific seminars, round table or small group meetingsMaintain compliance within the Medicines Australia and Biogen frameworks for business acumen and codes of conductMaintain 100% training compliance on all allocated courses and internal standard operating proceduresAnd other job duties that may be assigned from time to time.

QualificationsUniversity Degree in science, pharmacy or medicine3+ years-experience in the bio/pharmaceutical industry, rare disease therapy and/or neurology experience is preferred.Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex data to different audiencesStrong team player, collaborator and interpersonal skills Good Customer focused mindset both internal and externalDemonstrates a clear understanding of current digital tools and techniques and their implementation
