Senior Mental Health Services Clinician, Coordinator of Groups and Workshops
Student Health and Well-Being (SHWB) Mental Health Services (MHS) at Johns Hopkins University seeks an energetic, organized, and motivated **_Senior Mental Health Services Clinician, Coordinator of Groups and Workshops_** to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment focused on delivering innovative mental healthcare and supporting the well-being of a diverse community of learners. The Senior Mental Health Services Clinician, Coordinator of Groups and Workshops, is part of an interdisciplinary team of clinicians providing clinical and outreach services to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students and learners across Johns Hopkins University. Senior Clinicians within Mental Health Services participate in the full range of clinical service delivery and hold other responsibilities, including program coordination, supervision of 1-2 staff and/or interns, and professional development activities commensurate with their experience levels. As Coordinator of Groups and Workshops, this clinician will lead the coordination of the program across MHS locations, develop and implement group interventions, conduct program evaluation, and provide consultation and supervision to staff. All MHS clinicians work collaboratively with psychiatry, primary care, and health promotion staff to provide care that emphasizes holistic wellness and mental well-being and leverages students’ resilience and other key skills. Clinicians collaborate with campus partners across the University through outreach and liaison activities. The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in clinical work and all professional activities. **Specific Duties and Responsibilities** + This position’s direct clinical service and supervisory responsibilities will be primarily based at the Homewood and East Baltimore clinics, but it may provide virtual or in-person services, supervision, or occasional reporting requirements at other locations in Maryland or Washington, D.C. See minimum qualifications for required timeframes for licensure. Jurisdictions required, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Percentages of duties and responsibilities are given as a general guideline, and will vary depending on time of year, needs of the clinical service, and program coordination responsibilities. _Group Program Oversight (10-20%)_ + Manages the Mental Health Services groups and workshops program; curates each semester’s schedule; ensures programs are scheduled and staffed appropriately; coordinates and executes marketing strategies. + Engages various campus stakeholders and student groups to determine needs for group and workshop programming topics and works with MHS staff to develop content to meet these needs. + Leads professional development training and seminars, with a particular focus on group interventions. + Leads a monthly consultation group for clinicians providing group counseling. + Develops, implements, and utilizes evaluation feedback for workshop and group programming to inform future offerings. + Remains abreast of current literature and research on student behavioral health and evidence-based intervention strategies, with a particular focus on group counseling. _Supervision and Leadership Development (10-20%_ ) + Supervises 1-2 clinical staff and/or psychology doctoral interns through goal setting, performance evaluations, and accountability management. + Provides clinical supervision and ensures that supervisees are delivering high-quality mental health services and practicing within MHS guidelines; intern supervision includes review of tapes, leading didactic seminars, and participation in training program activities. + Participates in recruitment, hiring, and training processes for clinical staff and interns. + Contributes to staff development, engagement, and teambuilding activities and actively participates in MHS-wide events. _Direct Clinical Service (50-65%)_ + Creates a warm and welcoming clinical environment where clients feel supported and respected as they pursue their personal, academic, and professional goals Provides multiculturally informed direct clinical services, including initial consultations, intake assessments, single-session consultation, goal-oriented individual and group therapy, and risk assessments. + Utilizes both flexible and goal-oriented approaches to individual treatment, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and interpersonal therapy, often in collaboration with psychiatric providers. + Collaborates with providers within SHWB as an interdisciplinary treatment team, including therapists, psychiatric providers, primary care clinicians, case management, and disability services staff. + Provides clinical case management to support connections to appropriate resources and bridge clients to care. + Consults, as appropriate, with providers in the community to facilitate continuity of care. _Outreach (5-10%)_ + Engages in opportunities for informal interactions with students to reduce barriers to counseling, which may include offering drop-in and chat hours, attending student events, orientation, and resource fairs, and participating in a range of student-led and student-focused programs. + Contributes to content for MHS social media and website content. + Serves as liaison to a school, division, or department within JHU to enhance relationships with faculty, staff, students, and trainees; range of activities may include needs assessment, embedded chat or drop-in hours, participation in CARE teams, facilitating skills training or workshops, consultation, etc. **Special Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities** + Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. + Specialized training or experience with group programming, including interpersonal process groups, support groups, and drop-in group modalities. + Specialized training or experience working with one or more diverse populations is strongly preferred (e.g., Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color (BIPOC) identified students, LGBTQ+ community, first-generation and/or limited income students, international students, and students who identify as disabled, gender diverse, and neurodivergent) + Clinical experience with concerns prevalent within the student and learner population is strongly preferred (e.g., identity development, trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, disordered eating, co-occurring substance use disorders, sleep disorders, and ADHD). + Experience independently executing psycho-educational presentations, programs, and events. + Bilingual proficiency is highly desirable. _Additional Information (Working Conditions)_ + Schedule + This is a 37.5 hour/week position. One evening clinic (6 or 7 pm) per week may be required based on programmatic needs; additional flexible scheduling may be possible + This position requires occasional evening and weekend work dependent on the programmatic needs of the University and for activities during the academic year (e.g., orientation, special events, etc.). + One day of remote work is standard; additional remote days may be required or permitted based on operational needs. + This is a 12-month, year-round position. + This position is designated as a Required Attendance Employee, designated as vital to the operation of a workgroup, so may be required to work during a university closure in response to operational needs. **Minimum Qualifications** + Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work from an accredited institution. + Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate clinical experience. + Minimum of 1 year of clinical supervisory experience. + Licensed as a mental health provider in the required jurisdiction(s) noted in the job description (psychologist, LMFT, LCPC, LCSW-C) or license-eligible (licensed as a mental health provider in another jurisdiction, must obtain licensure in required jurisdiction(s) within 6 months of hire). _Substitution/Equivalency_ + Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., DSW, or equivalent) in a relevant clinical discipline from an accredited program and completion of an accredited internship. + If eligibility is based on a doctoral degree, a minimum of _t_ hree years of post-graduate experience and two or more years of licensure as a psychologist or board-approved status as a social worker or professional counselor is required to meet the minimum qualifications. **Preferred Qualifications** + Doctoral Degree (DSW, Ph.D., Psy.D., or relevant terminal degree) from an accredited program. + Experience with APA-approved doctoral training programs as a clinical supervisor and familiarity with the compliance requirements for accreditation of APA-approved internships in health service psychology. + Clinical experience in a university setting is strongly preferred.
