Senior Merchandising Planner
Overview The Sr Merchandise Planner leads and coordinates key planning, forecasting and reporting processes, and analyzes business initiatives to identify opportunities/risks as well as drive business results for the Merchandising department.  The Sr Merch Planner is expected to utilize an analytical/financial background to provide insights and recommendations to cross-functional business partners.  This role will partner with the Merchandising leadership team to improve operational & financial performance. Overview of Responsibilities Planning and Budgeting Supports the development of long-range financial planning and annual budgets for sales and gross margin by business segment. Builds financial models to support accurate planning and influence decision-making. Forecasting Supports forecast processes and summarizes forecast highlights, business drivers, risk and opportunities for merchandising department. Develop and refine forecasting methodologies and operating mechanisms to continuously improve forecast accuracy. Analysis Provides analysis and recommendations to help merchants achieve department revenue and profit goals. Regular reviews of pricing, promotion, and assortment to help support decision-making. Leverage consumer insights and data, combined with a structured test-and-learn approach, to maximize growth opportunities. Reporting Prepare weekly and monthly presentations for Merchandising leadership. Key holiday, event, and promotional effectiveness reporting. Reporting on key business metrics, including category/brand drivers, sales/margin opportunities, and macro/micro trends. Partner with the business to identify variances to forecast/budget, and understand and relay ongoing implications. Other Serves as project lead for ad hoc projects by managing objectives, deliverables, and key milestones with minimal supervision. Supports manager in the coaching & development of junior team members. Work cross-functionally with multiple business units to support key outcomes in support of the merchandising team. Other duties as assigned #LI-CS1 Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related field is required. 4+ years of planning/analytics experience in grocery/retail/CPG, with progressively increasing responsibilities. Experience manipulating large amounts of data to generate actionable insights and recommendations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication skills, and ability to speak comfortably to data-driven recommendations. Experience with budgeting and forecasting systems. Experience with PowerBI or similar data visualization tool. Expert in Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
