Senior Merchant Sales Specialist
Overview This position is responsible for sales of Merchant Services processing solutions at the highest level of production and service. Determines merchant needs and offers appropriate processing solutions, identifying sales opportunities via referrals and advanced prospecting efforts. Partners with Business and Commercial Banking teams to promote Merchant service products, ensuring all activities create value for the Bank. Provides ongoing support and training to merchants by addressing complex issues. May provide a leadership role to the work group in sales, production, and product education efforts. Responsibilities Sales - Actively sells Merchant Services solutions to business and commercial clients. Leverages cross-sell opportunities through banker referrals for existing accounts, and participates in prospecting activities to acquire new clients. Analyzes merchant statements, pricing, hardware, and software to determine business needs and offer the appropriate product. Refers merchants to other departments within the Bank for additional financial services. Responsible for a high level of sales and service ability, mentoring less experienced associates and participating in advanced prospecting efforts. Operations - Partners with operations team to perform a variety of tasks relating to product and merchant needs, Responds to complex inquiries, addresses escalated issues, and services client accounts. Reviews merchant documentation and compiles additional information as needed. Training - Conducts ongoing merchant and associate training. Explains the use and installation of electronic terminals through coaching sessions, and educate merchants of latest fraud deterrent processes to minimize losses. Product Expert - Maintains strong knowledge of industry products including credit card processing methods and media, brand rules and regulations, and competitor products and services. Utilizes expertise to recommend and explain best solutions for merchant hardware, software, and price structure during the course of sales efforts. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Financial or Merchant Sales OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Financial or Merchant Sales Preferred Area of Experience: Minimum of 8 years in financial or merchant sales First Citizens benefits programs are designed to meet our associates where they are in life.
