Senior Microelectronics Die Level Process Engineer

Job Description Summary:

Draper is seeking a senior-level process engineer for a role focused on die level electronics packaging. The individual in this role will meet the rising need for advanced systems development and packaging to address the challenges involved with highly integrated hardware that meet shrinking form-factors and increasing thermal loads. Draper’s process engineers leverage stat-of-the-art capabilities to implement 2.5D advanced packaging techniques for the integration of microelectronic devices into System in Package (SiP) or Multichip Module (MCM) technologies.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
• Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs to create product concepts.
• Gather materials or resources needed to design the product.
• Test the product for usability and safety.
• Oversee the manufacturing and production process to set standards
• Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction – contribute to requirements development, propose ways forward, and adapt appropriately to changes in requirements.
• Provide insight and suggest design or process modifications based on quantitative data or results.
• Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies.
• Actively mentor less experienced engineers and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback.

Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field.

Experience
5-7 years experience in Product Engineering or related.

Specific responsibilities include:

Develop and mature novel processes for die level assembly such as automated dispense, precision placement, wire bonding, encapsulation, and hermetic packagingContribute to solving complex, customer-driven problems as part of a multi-disciplinary team and adapt appropriately to changes in requirementsWork with project leadership to establish build schedules for various product lines that will be running concurrentlyWork closely with design engineers to ensure that package designs can be assembled in a reliable manner when it comes time to buildCommunicate effectively and openly with a multi-disciplinary program team members and program leadership, including non-technical personnelDefine an approach to independently solve technical problems and execute assignments with minimal oversight while maintaining program schedule and budgetCreate and maintain process documents that will be followed by operators

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree with 7+ years of experience in a relevant field such as mechanical engineering, materials science, or manufacturing engineering<OR> Master of Science degree with 5+ years of experience  in a relevant field such as mechanical engineering, materials science, or manufacturing engineeringExperience programming automated die level assembly equipment (i.e. die placement, wire bonding, or encapsulation)Ability to generate clear process control documents and work instructionsTeam player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve program goalsExposure to statistical analysis software such JMP or Minitab to create and execute design of experimentsFamiliarity with failure analysis techniques to establish root cause and prevent future failuresExperience using MES systems for process flow tracking
