Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. The Opportunity
Lead Newmont Tanami’s Mine Geology Team to safely deliver their diamond drilling, geological modelling, production geology, block modelling and reconciliation accountabilities. As a Technical Leader your role develops capability within the team through in field mentoring and maintenance of individual training plans. Working with Technical Services and Operational Teams, this role is critical in the conversion of Newmont Tanami’s resources and delivery of the life of mine plan.
In this role you will:
Lead a diverse team of Mine Geologists and Project Geologists, employing the Newmont Values to ensure the mine geology accountabilities leading to the delivery of reserve conversion drilling and mine plan ounces are met.
Lead the Mine Geology team to maintain and update mine ore control processes to ensure quality material management communication and data tracking.
Through stakeholder engagement, develop and maintain a robust underground production reconciliation process and ensure its integration with the site-wide reconciliation process.
Ensure effective design and execution of the diamond drill schedule to advance life of mine Resource, Reserve and Grade Control conversion by the Mine Geology team.
Ensure geological data collection, modelling and reporting is delivered on schedule.
Provide technical input into and active maintenance of the mine geology budget. Ensure accurate tracking of business partner performance enables prompt payment delivery and proactive contractor management.
Demonstrate your safety leadership to ensure the Mine Geology team and business partners maintain a safe working environment driven by active field engagement.
Your Knowledge, Skills and Experience
BSc (Hons) or MSc in Geological/Geosciences, with extensive relevant Mine Geology experience in a large underground gold mine environment.
Strong leadership with demonstratable ability to align your mentoring approach to a diverse team of mine geologists with individual development pathways.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multi-rig underground diamond drilling programs.
Demonstrated ability to undertake life of mine diamond drill scheduling.
Stope and mine to mill grade reconciliation and reporting experience.
Financial management and budgeting skills.
Strong analytical skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and effective project management.
