Position: Senior Rehabilitation Mine Specialist

Role Responsibilities
This role is essential for overseeing the rehabilitation of mine sites in the Murray Basin NSW. You will help oversee contractors on site, as well as manage consultant and specialist input and works.
Your key responsibilities may include: Rehabilitation Planning: Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive rehabilitation plans to ensure effective land restoration. Plan Implementation: Oversee the execution of Rehabilitation Management Plans (RMPs), ensuring timely achievement of objectives and successful outcomes. Contractor Coordination: Foster strong relationships with external service providers (e.g., environmental contractors, rehabilitation consultants, mine closure specialists) to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and cost-effective services. System Integration: Develop and maintain integrated systems that align rehabilitation efforts with mining operations and Life of Mine (LOM) planning. Mine Closure Planning: Formulate strategies for safe, sustainable, and cost-effective mine closure, ensuring long-term environmental stability. Research & Trials: Lead research initiatives and trial programs to refine rehabilitation practices and criteria based on the latest findings. Regulatory Reporting: Compile and draft reports and plans in compliance with Reform Regulations, ensuring accurate and timely submissions. NSW Mining Legislation: Apply expertise in navigating mining rehabilitation and closure regulations specific to New South Wales (NSW), ensuring full compliance with legal requirements for rehabilitation and closure activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications Education: Degree in Environmental Science / Geology / Mine Engineering /Civil Engineering (or similar). Mining Rehabilitation Experience: Hands-on experience with mine rehabilitation projects. Knowledge of environmental factors impacting rehabilitation (e.g., soil, vegetation, hydrology, biodiversity). Practical experience in developing mine closure strategies, including land reclamation and site stabilization. Project Management and Planning Proven experience in managing projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, site scheduling, and risk management. Collaboration with external service providers (e.g., environmental contractors, consultants, mine closure specialists). Ability to develop long-term rehabilitation strategies aligned with mining operations and Life of Mine (LOM) planning, understanding mine life cycles (pre-production, active, closure). Regulatory Compliance & Reporting Expertise in NSW mining rehabilitation and closure regulations. Experience drafting technical and regulatory reports, including compliance documentation. Regular involvement with government regulators, environmental agencies, community groups, and internal teams. Research and Innovation Experience conducting or overseeing research trials for rehabilitation. Ability to apply research results to improve rehabilitation practices. GIS and Mapping Software Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or mapping software Financial Management Experience in managing financial aspects of rehabilitation projects, including cost estimation, financial reporting
