We are currently recruiting for an Senior Mining Systems Application Specialist who will report directly into the Technology Manager, this role is being offered on a 7:7 roster. The Senior Mining Systems Application Specialist provides dedicated support for fleet management applications, Power BI development, OT software application suite and database systems used at the mine site. The position is accountable for the support of mine site personnel with the functionality and capability of OT software applications related to mining and processing technology, ensuring all work is conducted in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner, whilst minimising the impact on production and ensuring compliance with NTO standards and statutory obligations.

 

A day in the life may include:

Assists with the functional operation of the MineStar application and system issue investigation and engaging vendor support through the CAT TSC systemPerforms impact assessments on supporting infrastructure or related systems during incidents, upgrades and maintenance activitiesCoordinates and provides support for the site’s production, applications and database systems.Establish and maintain technology vendor and partner relationshipsInvestigate, review and recommend change to applications where appropriate and collaborate with stake holders to rollout approved enhancementsCollaborate and participate with industrial and academic leaders both inside and outside the mining industry to discover, implement and utilize value added, methods and technologies Maintain the integrity of data interfaces (API’s) and logic to optimize dataflowMigrating applications or databases across different platform.Works closely with the Data & Analytics team to provide reporting solutions for the site operations teams

 

About you:

Tertiary Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field and 5 years relevant experience, or;Experience in an operational business unit with data analysis and implementation experienceExperience in some of these applications is desirable ; MS SQL Server Management and SQL Scripting, CAT Command, CAT Fleet Manager, CAT MinestarExperience with programming languages, and Windows and Unix operating systems is desirableExperience with .Net and Business Objects is an advantageExperience with dashboard systems and data analysis tools is an advantage (e.g. Power BI)Demonstrated experience in technical support roleStrong mix of business, functional, and technical skillsGood understanding of Mining or other Resources type OperationsAbility to effectively deliver projects
