Senior Monitor Technician
Minimum Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Successful completion of dysrhythmia recognition course
* 1 to 2 years' experience, as a Monitor Technician required.
* BLS certification required.
* Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately in the required leadership skills and proficiency will be required for this position within 60 days from date of hire.
* The Senior Monitor Technician must possess well-developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
* The incumbent will demonstrate the ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.
* This position must demonstrate commitment to internal and external customer service and flexibility in performing required duties.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Monitor Technician is considered the technical expert in the room as well as the trouble shooter. This role is responsible for breaking when working. Managing and balancing the schedule on each shift, and maintaining the station rotation as well as the holiday bundles to submit for final approval by the Manager. The Senior Monitor Technician in conjunction with their shift partner will be responsible for maintaining our par inventory, by reporting monthly supply needs to the manager. They will be responsible for ensuring that each station has the wipes and gloves needed each shift.   The Senior Monitor Tech will address and bring issues within the department to the manager.   The Senior Monitor technician Lead will be the liaison with Bio-Med and Space Labs when required.   This is all in addition to the ability to perform in the role of the Monitor technician which is listed below:   The Monitor Technician provides support to the patient care delivery team by observing the heart rhythms and/or pulse oximetry of patients who are receiving cardiac monitoring. The Monitor Technician is responsible for maintaining alarm parameters and for notifying the Registered Nurse of changes in patient cardiac rhythms (as per centralized monitoring policy).   The Monitor Technician is also responsible for the admission, transfer, and discharge functions of all centrally monitored patients.   Monitor Technicians will support staff development by assisting in ongoing education throughout the organization. This will include 1:1 sessions with New Monitor Technicians and Trainees.   This position also supports the manager and assists in the everyday running of the department; in the absence of Management.   This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and patient safety.   QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of dysrhythmia recognition course, graduate of CVT School preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: BLS certification required. Cardiovascular Technician Certification preferred (NCCT or CCI).
EXPERIENCE: 1 to 2 years' experience, as a Monitor Technician required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately in the required leadership skills and proficiency will be required for this position within 60 days from date of hire. The Senior Monitor Technician must possess well-developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The position requires considerable sitting, reaching and observing of computer displays, as well as listening and responding to frequent monitor alarms. Requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool
