WSYM Fox 47, the E.W. Scripps station in Lansing, Michigan, is seeking a dynamic and innovative Senior Morning Reporter to lead our morning show into its next chapter. This is not your standard morning show role. Say goodbye to the early 2 a.m. alarms and hello to the opportunity for substantial, in-depth storytelling. This person will host our morning show from the field and bring quality, hard-enterprise content to our broadcast and digital platforms. When news breaks, the Senior Morning Reporter will respond quickly, ensuring our viewers receive timely and accurate updates while driving live coverage from the scene.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Turn hard-enterprise stories to lead our morning newscasts.
Research stories through personal contacts, the internet and other sources deciding the best angle and approach for the story.
Respond to breaking news as it develops in the overnight or morning hours.
Shoot, write and edit stories as assigned.
Elevate our product across multiple digital platforms.
Build a network of informational sources to provide exclusive stories for the Scripps brand.
Collaborate effectively with News, Promotion, Production and Engineering on daily broadcast, special projects and online coverage.
Participate in community events.
Meet all production deadlines.
Periodically required to drive personal or company vehicle to cover various assignments.
Complete other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Strong communication skills, oral and written
Storytelling ability
Promote teamwork attitude with station employees
Exceptional on-air personality
Multitask multiple stories
Advance ability in critical thinking
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.
