The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a Senior Naval Architect to support the Center for Innovation in Ship Design (CISD) at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) in Bethesda, MD. The position will serve as a project mentor, personal mentor, and subject matter expert to junior naval architects and new hires in CISD. In addition, the position will provide expertise pertaining to both Navy surface combatants, auxiliaries, and relevant commercial vessels.

Responsibilities:
• Support new hires in directing them to relevant SMEs or Navy/commercial references to support their technical work.
• Support the development of requirements for Fall Projects and Summer Intern projects.
• Support the development of CISD’s overarching workforce development strategy – How do we improve our teaching methods and the way we’ve structured our projects such that we are getting valuable data outputs on novel concepts, while also efficiently training our new hires
• Develop and review tutorials pertaining to Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering deliverables, as needed in the context of ship concept design performed at Carderock. 
• Naval Architectural deliverables would include but are not limited to the following analyses: Stack Up Length, Concept of Operations, Operational Views, Selection of Parent Hulls for Parametric Estimation of initial ship hull characteristics, Floodable Length, Area and Volume Estimation, Weight and Stability Estimation, General Arrangements, Resistance and Powering Estimation, Propulsion Architecture selection, Electric Power Load Analysis and Genset selection, Intact and Damage Stability, Seakeeping
• Support the standardization of expectations for deliverables for early-stage ship design.
• Participate in reviews of project deliverables.
• Support collaboration with stakeholders and organizations such as ONR, DARPA, SNAME, and other areas of NAVSEA to understand innovative/emergent technology.

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in naval architecture, marine engineering, or other related engineering discipline
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in naval architecture
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Active Secret security clearance
• Demonstrated experience mentoring junior personnel 
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Interpersonal and collaborative skills to work with project teams and stakeholders.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Desired:
• Master’s degree in naval architecture, marine engineering, or other related engineering discipline
• 15 or more years of relevant experience in naval architecture
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$103,800 - $218,100
