Basic Purpose:
Under minimum supervision, the Network Engineer is responsible for the configuration and day-
to-day management of software and hardware required for the internal and external network.
Plan and support of enterprise network and to perform troubleshooting of routers, switches,
firewalls and other associated systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Document
problems and solutions of the network, and identify improvements for the upgrading of the
system when needed. Monitor performance of the network and implement updates and tuning of
the systems. Maintain a professional working relationship with both internal and external
customers.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the availability, reliability, performance and maintenance of enterprise
network infrastructure.
Provide 24/7 support to operations, including hands-on troubleshooting and crisis team
evaluation.
Supports network and security related initiatives as it relates to the enterprise.
Support enterprise IP Network Infrastructure as designed and implemented.
Support internal networks growth through ongoing evaluation, tuning and enhancements.
Monitors network health, security and performance. Takes corrective actions as
necessary.
Provide design, development, testing and deployment of network security products and
solutions.
Support Global payments and its subsidiaries’ Technology Services entities concerning
network services as required.
Assist in designing, implementing, and supporting network management systems.
Test and evaluate current and new network systems to eliminate problems and make
improvements.
Develop support documentation and procedures to be transferred to network support
personnel.
Interface with customers both internal and external to the company, also vendors in
researching and evaluating new technology.
Specify orders, receives, configures, and implement network hardware/software.
Interpret statistics and other gathered data to size current network and determine problem
areas.
Perform related network project tasks as assigned.
Create changes, document change steps with detailed back-out plans.
Participate in any/all training and educational activities necessary to fulfill at least the
minimum requirements specified in the department goals.
Practice and comply with all regulations promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
Adhere to privacy, confidential, proprietary company policies and procedures.

On-site M-F during standard business hours
Some level of after-hours activity can be expected

Must be able to speak audibly and intelligibly on the telephone and in person
Must be able to establish and maintain productive, positive and cooperative relationships
with ISOs, co-workers, and vendors
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Must be able to work holidays and weekends as necessary based on business needs
Regular travel not expected, but must be able to travel.
Qualifications:
High School or equivalent experience and 3 – 5 years of networking experience in
banking or finance industry; credit card processing preferred. Bachelor’s degree in
Computer Science generally preferred. MCSE, CCNA or equivalent certification a plus.
Must possess a demonstrable working knowledge of Cisco switches, routers, firewalls,
network monitoring tools, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP.
Strong MPLS experience in a large scale complex enterprise networking environment.
Experience in ground-up development of networks and facilities moves a plus.
Experience with Cisco product line required, ACI experience a plus.
Experience with Avaya Call Manger and IP Office a plus.
